I am considering buying a cold air intake for my 05 5.7 hemi but is it worth the $300?

I went with the K&N CAI kit that I purchased from Amazon. It fits very well and I can really feel the difference in power.

I used a K&N-77 kit. It has a washable filter and the whole box and tube can be removed in a couple of minutes. I like the convenience for working on everything which become important when trying to get things done quickly. The original steel air box IMO is heavier then necessary and is now starting to show age. I'm going to replace it with an aluminum one. Is it worth the money? Hard to say, probably not, but I would buy it again mostly for the reasons I've mentioned plus it is very simple design.

I made a change today to my CAI, as I took the crankcase breather tube off of the CAI duct, and installed a separate cleanable filter. This will prevent oil vapor from going down the tube and fouling the throttle body. The filter in next to the oil level dipstick. :waytogo:

Yep, that's how I did mine. Also makes it just a little easier to remove the intake tube.

Cold air intakes are a fairly inexpensive modification (typically a few hundred dollars) and easier to install than most other engine modifications. No, they won't add quite as much power as other engine mods, but they will help your engine in some other ways.
