Hello have a '18 6.4 with 4.10 gears. 23400 miles on the clock and since the Michigan cold weather my MPG seems to have fallen off. Wondering if refineries put cold weather additives into the gas and if my MPG would fall off because of it? Thanks.

Most states switch to a fuel blend with a higher vapor pressure (the fuel wants to evaporate more easily) in winter to assist in cold starting. If you ever put vodka in the freezer and it gets kind of syrupy and loses most of its smell you know what I'm talking about - you need that vapor to combust easily.

Winter blend fuel has around 2% less energy and the winter weather itself contributes to reduced fuel efficiency by increased drag in every lubricated part of your engine before it comes up to full temperature as well as tighter tolerances in all of your bearings from the axle forward while they're cold due to shrinkage. That, the longer warm-up time for your whole vehicle.. it all adds up "death from a thousand papercuts" style.

Couple factors. Yes to your answer but also your truck takes longer to warm up.

Yep, there is a winter blend and a summer blend. The winter one typically gives you a crappier mpg.

As mentioned there is a winter blend gas ! We have been using the in New England for years. I drop about 2 MPG in the winter ! And also as mentioned warm up time gives it a hit in mpg loss as well !
