Officially a member of the unresponsive screen club. .2019 Ram 1500 Laramie, build date 05/18. Owned the truck since fall of 2023. I must love Dodge as this is my third Ram truck. First issue with screen started last year but resolved itself within a couple of days and a few battery resets. This winter, problem has become more prevalent. Currently am stuck with being unable to turn off the seat warmers and heated steering wheel as they come on automatically in cold weather, as well as not able to access anything else on the screen. Thank God the engineers at least have the foresight to put climate control buttons separately otherwise it would be a complete disaster.. Screen flickers on and off without apparent rebooting but screen is unresponsive. Battery disconnect and fuse removal don't fix the issue. Nothing plugged into USB ports.
First question, how am I able to tell if my system is Uconnect 4 or 5? Was able to get into the dealer settings screen before it locked up and pictures are attached. Second, how do you perform a soft reset? Holding the tuner and power buttons does not seem to do anything as when releasing them, the radio just powers off. Tried the phone and voice command button press with door open and close afterwards with the same result. Lastly does anyone know what the current version is for the
software, going to the Uconnect site says my software is up to date but I don't know if that is accurate. I'm unsure if this one is able to get OTA updates or if it's on the stick. Thanks in advance.20260119_101059.jpg20260119_101046.jpg

You have u-Connect 4 system. As for software updates the site will always say your up to date. The software updates from this site are included with the map update and they come packaged and sold together. These updates are tied to your VIN and can’t be shared with another VIN. This is the 2025 map and software updates. I just did mine a few days ago. I have never had a problem with any of the updates since owning my 19 Laramie Longhorn. As for the reset holding the tuner and power button is the way to do it. Hold on I’ll get the link and come back and edit this post.

Here is the link where I get my updates from. Read and follow the directions on the web pages.

Thank you. I had my suspicions it was a 4 as the Android auto is not wireless. Yes I've gone to that site and punched in my VIN, and yes it always says it is up to date. As for the map update site I did the same and said the maps are up to date as well. Is there a way to get the files and put them onto a USB to update the system other than downloading them from the Uconnect website? Curious as to what version you are running as you said you updated a few days ago. Did you get the files from the website?

Reset for me holding down the power and tuning buttons has never worked, I have tried it at least 20 times even when the screen is responsive

mine is a 12.4 in my 2020. I bought one of those dongle things to plug in and supposedly make it work like a 12.5. Waste of money, it was slow, often hard to connect, not to mention my wife hated it. Supposedly, you could watch like Netflicks on it, (never tried it) and make it so that you never had to plug your phone in (what a joke that was )

So, it sits in the glove box. I've often checked for updates too, and i get the same message: mine is up to date.

However, if the update is just for maps, i'll pass because i use maps on the phone and i'm not sure what else they can update on the screen, do they add stuff?

I see your in Canada and thus have a Canadian version of the software. Have you checked to see if you have a Canadian specific UConnect website for updates?

The files can’t be downloaded. They come on 2 USB sticks one labeled map update and the other labeled software update and they require a activation code for the map update portion that is sent to you during the map part of the install process. The updates are tied to your VIN and can’t be used on another vehicle. Give me some time today I am at work but when I get home I can take a pic of the USB sticks and post it here. Other than going to the dealer to see if they have an update (gonna have to pay them to install if one is avaliable) this is the only way to update the UC4 system. It is cheaper to order the updates than the dealer for me in the US and they have been releasing them about every year so far and the software and map update come together when you order. My updates were the 2025 software and map updates. As for the reset I press and hold both button for about 20 seconds then release. The system turns off and restarts or you can go into the UC settings and reset the system from there. You have several different reset options to choose from similar to an iPhone when resetting it. Oh yea since you are in Canada there should be a UC Canadian site to check. Checking the US site is pointless. I didn’t see you were in Canada, my bad.

Yes thanks, I've checked. The canadian Uconnect site redirects to the US site when requested software update. Curious how the canadian version is different than the us version. Different language pack, etc.

Curious at to what version software you have. Mine is CANADA-SBX-12.1-LR-35.31.0-20230412-LORM. I think I got an ota update a few months after I purchased it in fall of 2023, but can't remember for sure.

Here you go.
This is what I got when I ordered on 12 Jan 26 and all previous updates. These are updates for 2025. I check every year around Nov/Dec. It’s strange that it tells you there is no update when I have it right here in pics and installed in my truck. Since you have UC4 your updates come from the dealer or these USB sticks in pairs. I have never gotten an over the air update since I bought the truck and I pay for Sirius XM Guardian with Live Traffic and the Ram App for Remote Services.
Here is a screenshot of my system info screen and what options you have for resetting your system. Hope this helps.

Thank you. Strange that your 40.1 revision has an older date than my 35.31 version. Maybe be rollout came later for canadian vehicles. I'll hunt around and see if i can find a Canucks version of 40.1, otherwise a trip to the stealership
