I just bought a 1500 Express this week, so I'm just curious to see if there are any tips out there that a new owner should know. Any common issues to watch for? Simple mods that make everyone's life better? I'd appreciate the advice anyone can offer. Thanks.

Search debadging, some people love the look, I personally do, quick and easy doesn't void any part of your warranty if youre worried about it. Enjoy the truck and welcome!

Read up on 'catch cans' and decide if one is for you or not.
Because you have dual headlights you have a lot of aftermarket options, if you want clear corners or black housings.
Welcome aboard!

Quads on an Express? Lucky, but I'm partial to them.
Couple more cheapies; in cabin air filter (lots of info in the tech/DIY section here) and the Dee-Zee EZ-down tailgate assist.

Starting mid '12 the express started coming with quads. Mine came with them.

Avoid WOT downshifts from overdrive gears, and your trans will last a long time. If you have less than 500 miles on your truck you can go to an authorized Goodyear dealer and trade in your tires for an upgrade.

This is the first I have heard of a cab filter. I am a serious neat freak and hate dust!!! Tell me about this filter please!!!

Where can I find details/information on this?

Not sure if you've heard of the product known as Plasti Dip yet but I recommend looking into it. It's basically like a spray on flexible rubber substance. It now comes in a litany of different colors. The original is matte black but you can get it in anything from monster green to blaze orange and they make "glossifiers" and "metalizers" that can change it's appearance to be more shiny if you don't like the flat appearance.

I'd recommend www.dipyourcar.com if you really want to find out more about what it is. If you get serious about it I did a Do-It-Yourself write up on here on how to Plasti-Dip your wheels and front grille emblem. Here's the link to that:

Also in reference to debadging as some people have mentioned. I recommend using fishing line to remove emblems. You simply use the fishing line to essentially "saw" through the double sided tape that holds the emblems on. Once you have the emblem off, I HIGHLY recommend the use of an eraser wheel attachment in addition to some adhesive remove. I personally used a 3M Brand Stripe-Off Wheel on the adhesive from my emblems along with 3M Adhesive Remover. I've done emblems the hard way and I can tell you in full confidence please just spend the money on an eraser wheel, it makes things much faster, and it's a lot easier.

Also if you haven't heard already there's a fella on here by the name of JJ that runs the Retro Shop. He can custom paint headlights, and retrofit headlight housings with projectors for HID bulbs. He is a vendor on this forum and just about everyone on here seems to go to him for their lighting needs. Here's a link to his vendor page:

Well that's all I can think of off the top of my head. If you by chance have any other questions feel free to ask or shoot me a PM.

Welcome to the site, simple upgrade talk with the vendor Moe's- Matt and order a throttle body. The 85 mm gives better reosknse than stock and you will enjoy the feel. Takes 10 minutes to put in. Enjoy the truck. Joe
