My girlfriend connected her Iphone to my 2018 Ram the other day. Stereo and information screen immediately starting studdering and having a fit. Disconnected it and it kept acting strange until turning truck off and back on. Now it's telling me to service trailer brake and auto braking system and cruise control will not work. Pulled battery connection and still same issue. But stereo and everything else is working fine now.

Thanks for any help!!

How long did U pull the battery cables? Needs a lot more than a minute. Some also suggest also discharge by touching both cables together (not sure on that one).

The IPHONE should not in any way affected anything, something screwy there. My only other thought, and this is reaching, is that there was some type of malware or something on phone that got introduced to the RAM system, but I am reaching real bad here. But kinda depends if IPHONE was "paired" or plugged into carplay.

Make sure you also delete that particular phone from the system.

Any chance your battery isn’t up to spec ? A weak battery can do funky things .

Thank you for the suggestions. Disconnected the battery again and left it for an hour. Reconnected and drove around for 15 minutes. Everything is working again. Didn't pair the phone. Just plugged it in and tried to play Spotify from it. Had done it in the past with no problem.

Uconnect is fun. Reason 1 it's your fault, per Uconnect support. You might try the official Apple lightening cable. I was told that. might help. Might try your current cable on a different car with CarPlay support. If my chosen cable works on a different manufacturer's car, might be the cable is ok. What's next?

Reason 2 it's your fault, per a desperate Uconnect support. You might check your iPhone for all necessary updates. Ditto for checking for Uconnect updates. In fact, we need you to remove any phone app installed since the problem showed up. (Or you just explain it works swell on your other vehicle).

Good luck. If you can afford a code reader/clearer, that might show a deep, buried code not easily clear by removing power. A few controllers feature their own batteries. In the old days, we'd disconnect the chassis battery plus engage the headlight switch to more quickly drain any residual charges. But a code reader/clearer pays for itself some days.

On my 16 I paired my IPhone 11 Pro Max to my 8.4 radio. Now I only make and receive phone calls. All the fancy uconnect stuff expired before I had an I phone.
