Well it's been a little over a year now since I sold my 2016 Ram 1500 Sport and I utterly miss having a truck. Been highly considering getting back into a 1500 while there are still 2024's on the lot with a hemi as I am still not sold on the new hurricane being a viable or good option for a few more years.

My biggest concern and I guess what I am really looking for is how does the the air ride suspension hold up in the 5th gens? I now live in an area where it doesn't get below 0 Celsius much, or for very long. In the past I lived in Northern Ontario with -40 Celsius being a norm for weeks at a time and air ride suspension trucks were very few and far between and those that did have it would sell their truck after the first year due to all the headaches. I'm very picky with the options/specs of the truck I'd enjoy and this was nearly identical to my 2016 except for the air ride and sunroof. Biggest thing is blacked out truck with 3.92's and 124L gas tank.

Current vehicle: 2024 Mazda CX-5 Carbon Turbo, 9400km. Owe: $22,400. Current trade in value: $35,100-$37,500

Considering a Ram 1500 Sport with the following options:
Asking Price: $95,445
Discount: $19,446
Price: $75,999

From what I've seen the air suspension on 5th gens has been far more reliable than it was on 4th gens. There have been a small number of failures reported in forums I frequent but nothing like what I remember reading about on 4th gens 7 years ago when I owned a 2017 Rebel. The thing to remember about air suspension is that eventually it will fail. No getting around that.

So true. I've owned three black vehicles (including our current 2020 Limited). Very difficult to keep clean where I live. Farm country as far as the eye can see with very little rain from July thru October means it can get very dusty in the summer months. But they look soooo good when they are clean (notice it's still in the driveway LOL)...

My 2016 Ram 1500 Sport was Black, believe me I know all about the fulltime career washing the truck and keeping it clean lol. I just love it too much to go with anything else.

I Had 2 air suspensions in a row. 4th and 5th gen. Both were headache free and the 5th gen was just that much smoother.
It’s the best riding pickup on the market, period

With that said, my winters never get below 0 degrees Fahrenheit and that’s only a few early mornings a year, and both trucks only had about 40k miles on them when I got rid of them so I can’t vouch past that.

Same, a Z28. I loved that car but, like a few other fun-but-demanding flings, I was not sad when it came time for us to part ways.

The only other black vehicle I bought was a Vegas 8-ball. So little paintwork it wasn't nearly the chore.

I live in one of those Canadian Celsius regions - haha. My air suspension on my 2013 1500 sport failed at 70,000 km / 42,000 miles. I decided then that I would not allow four pockets of air determine whether or not I could drive my truck. Anyway, I did a direct swap, replacing my air shocks with conventional struts and springs. Easy job. The ride quality difference was unnoticeable. If I were to tow with it again I would get bags on the back. I know have almost 180,000 miles on it an no issue, although I have electronic issues elsewhere that mean I will be in a new ride later next year. I thought I was done with Ram now that the hemi is gone, and I do not like Stellantis as a company, but I am warming up to the hurricane more and more. But if I were in the market right now I would get a new 2024 with a hemi. Good engine, but I wouldn't keep it past powertrain warranty period.

I'd personally not get one with the factory air suspension option.
If you need an air suspension adder, look to a top tier aftermarket product.

I'd also stay away from the new 5th Gen's as they have the E-Torque system, too.
But this is just me and my own opinion.

Perhaps look for a new 4th Gen Sport or Warlock with the standard HEMI, 3.92's, and 32-gallon tank.
There a a few left to find in Ontario, but they are getting scarce.

I've had great success with Team Chrysler in Mississauga with service and purchases.
I have referred several people here for their servicing and purchases and they have all been happy.

Call Keith Ghuman there and he can find what you're looking for. Just let him know what your top wants are and he can search for a new truck with them.

My friend from Oshawa did it all over the phone for his new truck three months back. His new truck came from Barrie on a dealer trade they did to get it for him. He only had to show up to pick up the truck and sign the papers.

Thinking about a new 2025 or maybe wait for a 2026 but it will have 4 corner air. It is a fantastic system for pulling a travel trailer.

$96,000 for a half ton truck. If you have the cash to purchase one would be foolish to purchase a depreciating asset. If you don’t have the cash, even more foolish to take out an $80,000 loan (I realize this is Canadian dollars). I’m permanently out of the truck market.
