I'm in the process of converting my existing headlights to LED on my 2018 Dodge Ram 3500. Has anyone had any issues with needing a PWM module or a capacitor to make them work? Also, any recommendations on brand?

I used Heise LED, they come with a plug and play harness, NO issues.

If you have projectors, avoid LED. They just do not work well. Hotspot fades and you lose distance vision. If you live in a big city and do all of your night driving under street lights, you might be ok, otherwise, go HID for projectors.

I can’t comment on reflectors, but hear some of the LEDs work quite well in reflectors. The chip size looks ok, can’t verify placement or thickness. Those 3 factors will be the biggest determining factor for beam pattern. The idea is to have the chipset match, or be as close as possible to, filament size and placement on the halogen bulb of that size.

In the picture posted above, notice how bright it is directly in front of the truck, but how quickly it fades out. Driving 60 mph, you’re basically blind to anything that will be a hazard faster than you can react

Makes sense thank you! I have reflectors so I should be alright here. I have heard amazing reviews and the low beams on my OEM are super dim (surprised they are legal honestly)

Hello! Did you just do lows?

Also, no warning lights / can bus issues? (Usually happens on the 2017+ rams I hear)
Yes, just the lows and fogs, plenty of light for daily.
Didn't see the need for highs.

and zero issues, no errors, no flicker, nothing

I might just stick with LOWS only also...

I pulled both headlights to put LEDs in...

my "high beam" bulbs were too long and couldn't get the dust cover on at all....

But for now I have great light so I'll worry about HIGHS later closer to hunting season, God willing.

Yea, not sure, I should have measured my Heise, just to know length.

I did have to clock the fogs, but it was easy.

YEAH, my fogs were EZ PEEZY... BUT, I did have to turn one of my LOWs around to get it to work.

Those HIGHs have such a small cavity, I'm not sure who to trust when buying them... The pair I have now it said were compatible with my truck... NOT TRUE!!!

I have Cougar Motor lows & highs in my 2010 reflectors. Same length as OEM halogens, CANBUS safe, no errors & they fit under the dust covers.
I have a thread here with pics.

If you have access to AlfaOBD you can turn off PWM enabling the use of a slew of decent low cost LED bulbs. On my 2018 with reflectors I use Aukee 9005 for the high beams. Excellent bulbs for $31 on Amazon. Fits perfectly behind the space restricted dust cap.

In my 2004 I replaced the entire headlight set. I have HIDs in the low beam projectors and LEDs in the high beams. Don't remember the brand, but bought them on Amazon. They work fantastic.

i have had several cheap brands and been content. No issues with flickering or error codes.
They would burn out in about a year.

I finally went with Underground lighting. Wish I bought them first. More focused and consistent in color.

oh yea, 2014 with dual reflectors.
