I have a 13 Laramie, the radiator cooling fan will not turn on. I put 12 volts straight to the fan and it works that way. I replaced both relays.
Although I dont have freon in the A/C at the moment shouldnt the fan turn on with the A/C button pressed? its been an ongoing issue and really frustrating.
Someone please help I dont want it to overheat.

It shouldn't over heat if you still have the mechanical clutch fan and shroud on it.The E-fan is basically just a booster fan for the clutch fan when the A/C is on.

Does the motor get hot? Where you are it shouldn't be hard to get motor temp up over 210* even if you have to block the radiator. Just be sure to unblock it and get air through it if it does get that hot and the fan doesn't come on. Or spray a garden hose mist through the radiator fins, just not high pressure.
With the sensors it may know that A/C doesn't work so it thinks the fan doesn't need to come on.

The 12v fan is a auxiliary fan, not primary so it will not be energized until it reaches a temperature which is higher then you would suspect. I do not recall what the factory set points are. .

You can adjust the on-off setpoints with a HP Tuner.

How high has the engine temp gotten during your testing?

I'd try more patience before firing up the parts cannon again.

The electric fan will come on for the A/C to cool the condenser, too, but only if A/C is running. Turn AC onto Max Cool and that should call for the fan.

I believe I heard the electric fan will also come on after the temp hits something like 212 deg F, or something close to it.

on really hot days the engine gets up to about 220-225ish then slowly comes down to about 210. the fan still wont turn on. ive disconnected the plug at the compressor and its seems to work that way. We'll see how it goes

ok so follow up question, today the fan wasnt running so I reached in stopped the main fan and spun the electric fan and it started working.
does that mean the fan motor is bad?

The electronic fan is commanded on when the A/C is on, regardless of A/C setting. However if the A/C compressor does not turn on for any reason such as no refrigerate in the A/C lines then the electronics will see this and not command the fan to the on condition because the A/C compressor did not turn on.

I've replaced over a half dozen of the mechanical clutch fans and A/C fans with the V6 fan and have 1 truck where ive adjusted temp settings in HP tuners. my 14RT that is supercharged and tuned by FRP.

They all work the same as long as they are 4th gens. 5th gens run a different fan and are set up differently. I've only done this on US trucks, so they could be different in Canada. They have a few different electronic requirements. DLR for example.

I just finished doing this to my 2024 1500 classic Warlock. It worked as described above.

Good chance it's going south,if it took off after you gave it a push.

In regards to the fan coming on with the AC. If you have no freon in the system the AC generally won't actually come on regardless if you hit any buttons. So even if you hit the dash button the fan may recognize the AC isn't actually on and therefore not engaging. I'm guessing the command that tells the fan to come on with the AC is not coming from pushing the dash button, but rather some other parameter or sensor with the AC.

No fan will not run right with out the pressure switch engaging . You need to charge the freon for fan to operate correctly. It may come on intermittently but only at very high temps and on slow speed . 220° .

If you have clutch fan and electric fan the electric fan doesnt come on til you turn on ac then it runs on high . With truck running and ac on unplug the pressure switch from freon line electric fan should immediately come on high speed . If that happens you need to charge ac for it to work properly.
