Ok my 2017 6.4 Laramie is have heating problems driver side is cold the passenger side is warmer. So I thinking I Have the heater core problem so it needs to be flushed.
Has anybody had success with using the Prestone flushing additive as a solution ? Or does it need to be done only by disconnecting the heater hoses and back flushing ? Maybe I need to bring a blanket from now on!

I’ve use the Prestone flush one time, and had a heater core leak immediately after that lol. To be fair that was in a 20 year old car and it’s likely that there was at least a slight leak before the flush.

I finally broke down and had my heater core replaced affter a few years of flushing it for same problem.
no heat drivers side heat on passenger side was good.

Flushing the core for me was just a band aid, worked for the cold season.
If it was me, and you plan on keeping the truck I would replace the heater core.
As i said I did, and I also had the evap and velve replaced while the dash was part,
heat now will run you out of cab

With your heater selected “ON”..***…and blower on “high”…. place a hand down near the accelerator-pedal …to check for air-flow. Compare that air-flow to the area of the pax-side left foot-well.
They should be similar in air-flow.
If not… If the driver side has less flow….then it’s more likely the “blend door” issue instead of heater-core.

The blend door can be blocked by debris or mouse-nest or ? ? ? …and will need clearing.
Also, blend door actuators have been known to fail and reportedly are not difficult to exchange.

Post back with your results.

***= Select the ventilation-duct to blow in the “floor-heater-vents” position …rather than the dash-vents or defroster vents….for this test.

Which blend door you talking about isn’t there four or five of them? I think I would like to know the temp coming out of the air ducts if the heater core is not blocked an fully functionable!

There are only three doors directing air flow: Blend Door, Mode Door, Recirculate Door.
