Have had recent problems with my 99 Ram standard transmission not wanting to go into gear especially after warmed
Up. I took the old girl to a trusted transmission shop and they said I needed a clutch overhaul. $2300.00!!
I can’t do the heavy work anymore due to both shoulders replaced after 40 years in the construction trades.Being on disability and a fixed income it wasn’t going to happen.
I was looking at the Dodge factory carpet behind the clutch pedal and noticed a deep indentation where the backside of the pedal has been stopping. I started wondering if a little extra room for pedal travel might help.
I decided to cut out the carpet and the rubber backing pad behind it.
There was at least an 80 percent improvement in the shifting!
My question is has anyone out there seen anything like this? I feel like I
have maybe bought myself a little bit of time at best?
Thanks in advance for any thoughts!
