You'll need to know some weights and what your truck is rated to tow based on some key data.
Truck GVWR - You, the truck, fuel, passengers, gear...the truck fully loaded.
Trailer GVWR - Trailer with all gear inside, ready to tow.
Truck GCVWR - Gross Combined Vehicle Weight Rating - truck plus trailer ready to roll. Don't forget tongue weight...it all counts as payload.
Now add the truck and trailer GVWR together and see how they compare to the truck's GCVWR rating.
The other thing to seriousl consider is whether or not you'll have some issues with trailer sway, stability and tongue weight. You don't want it to sag so much that your headlights look like searchlights and you have no steering control.
What hitch are you going to use? Do you have a Weight Distributing Hitch with Anti-Sway? What is the tongue weight of the trailer?
Do you have airbags in the back of your truck? You might need them to level out the truck depending on tongue weight.
