Most likely a code related issue. Scan it and check that will tell the story.

On my 2016, cruise won't turn on sometimes. One of the below gets it working again.
While driving, hold down set and resume simultaneously and then release. See if cruise control will now come on.
While driving, press the on/off button like you mean it for 3 - 4 seconds and release. Try turning cruise on normally.

Lightly smack the steering wheel behind the cruise control button, then press on, it will come on. I know its silly but I saw a post about it an it works everytime. I will smack the back of it, press on, and there it is.

Mine on my 14 Ram Laramie quit working also. I replaced the fuse and now my check engine light came on. Truck runs fine, but still no cruise .

Cruise will not work of there is an abs, traction control or engine light on. They set it up like that for safety reasons. If you clear/fix your engine light it's likely the cruise will work correctly again.

Ram 3500 Diesel. Cruise works intermittently. Wasted 150 at dealer no codes and started working again. Any new info?

What do you mean by intermittently, is it working going down the road then suddenly turns its self off or works one day shut the truck off and doesn't work the next?

The switch is junk, smacking the switch will get it back but you will eventually need to replace the switch, 60 dollar part on ebay

Need a few details of what is going on. Do you mean if you hit the cruise on switch on the steering wheel nothing happens? If so that is pretty common to have issues with that button and there have been dozens of post over the years talking about it. I have a '16 with the same issue. It will go months where if you just hit the button the cruise will not turn on....but if you have sit there and constantly hit the button on and off, and sometimes hit the other buttons randomly, it will then turn on. Then you will go for months with no issues. Some people report smacking the steering wheel around the button will get it working. In any case it's either the button is worn out, a loose connection, bad wiring, or even a clock spring issue (though usually multiple other steering wheel controls will not work). On mine it's only the cruise on button and nothing else.
