When I installed my the brake hose to the caliper I would use 1 crush washer on each size and I tried a bunch of different size and it would just leak everytime. I changed the hose cause I saw the threads were bent on the old one and I thought that was the issue. It still leaked with one crush washer on each side, but I changed it to 1 on the bolt to hose side and 2 on the hose to caliper side and not one drip of brake fluid has come out and it’s still bone dry hours later. Is this safe to keep it like this?

I’d say the most conservative view is there’s some slight increase in the possibility the doubled washers might let go under extreme pressure, since copper is soft and now there’s twice the internal surface area.

That said I doubt in the real world you would experience a leak from double washers. Probably lots of vehicles in the last 100 years left the assembly line with doubles unintentionally.

I’ll be interested to see if anyone has other theories or actual experience with this.

If you decide to take corrective action it seems like the cause must be deformation on the caliper.
