Has anyone had any luck in getting Ram to help out with an oil leak. Dealer said it is between the block and the timing cover. Quoted 5k to fix it. Truck has 47k on it. I asked Ram Cares but they never replied. I bought the truck in Aug of 23 with 27k on it. I bought an extended warranty but it does not cover engine problems. Never trust a finance guy when you have been awake 25 hours.

Since you're in North Bama, which dealer did you take it to? If you say Landers in HSV or Champion in Decatur... take it somewhere else.

Fayetteville, TN Ram and Champion in Athens are fairly easy to deal with. The timing cover gasket has leaked on a few (not that common) but if the truck is still under the 5 year 100k mile engine warranty with Cummins they "should" fix it.

High Country in Arab was worse to deal with than Champion in Decatur where I got the truck. Was out on warranty in years when I noticed the leak last July. Had talked with Ram Care but then all I got was crickets. I talked to a somewhat local shop that will do the repair for around $1700

Yea I tried to buy a new Durango RT from HC back in 2022. The only thing we asked to finalize the deal was to swap silver wheels with black wheels that was on the one next to it. That was a hard requirement from the wife. They wanted an additional $3k over their full price offer to SWAP the wheels. We wouldn't even get the originals with it. We ended up walking out.

They're a bit pricey, but City Diesel over in Decatur is top notch and could fix it no problem. Maybe even cheaper than you got quoted, not sure. There's another called TruTorque diesel over in Athens that I've also heard is really good with a Cummins.

Whatever you do, make sure that whomever does the repair is good with a Cummins and has references. There are some less than stellar diesel shops around this area. (I used to be an outside diesel rep for a local diesel dealer).

If you don't mind me asking, who is the local shop?

I work in Decatur and used City Diesel years ago to replace a vp44 on a 01 I had. I will call them. A coworker has used the place I talked to, Redline in West Point. I wish I could trade it off, but I don't know if newer is better than the 18 I have with 48k on it.

Newer is DEFINITELY not better. I too have an '18 and aside from the normal emission issues that they all have, it's been as rock solid as my 2012 and my 2016. I've collectively put about 400k miles on this engine between the 3 trucks and all have been trouble free. If it were me, especially with those miles, I'd get it fixed and keep it a few hundred thousand.... but of course it's easy for me to spend someone else's money. :)

I just started having that issue. I cannot see where the actual oil is coming from, but it's near the back of the engine and the front of the transmission. Any of yall get the leak fixed and where did they say is was coming from? I was thinking the torque converter may have a leak in it. Truck has 161K miles on it. Any ideas?

if not the trans or transfer case seal then rear main seal or a leaky gasket further up on the engine or cover
