I have a 1970 dodge pick up and it has no motor and I'm thinking about putting either a cummins from a first gen or a Hemi in it. I won't be pulling often.

That right there says it all. The Hemi is all you need for those few occasions. In addition the price of gas vs diesel is about $2 a gallon right now. I have several friends who tow some pretty heavy trailers with the 5.7L Hemi.

If it were me I'd be installing the Hemi..............

Hemi. I'm not one of those guys who claims I tow my honking trailer and I can't even tell its there..." but it has all the power we've ever needed, included pulling our 32' through the Rockies in the heat of the summer. We're extremely pleased with the Hemi.

I vote for 12v Cummins. They put those in everything.

Do you think the Hemi would equal the pulling power of a 7.5 L Ford "460" Cid V-8 or a Ford 6.8L V-10 ?

Well, not to be a smart ass but I would hope an engine with 1.8 & 1.1 liters work of engine would have more power an torque. The 6.8L now has 457TQ compared to the 5.7L to the 400TQ but the hemi has 31HP...so give & take I guess.

Maybe I should have said is it comparable in pulling power?
I have a 30ft. Cargo Trailer, my F-250 pulls it like it was not even there.
