hello everyone,

i am fairly new tho the blog so i will try to make it as short as possible with out too many dumb questions lol.

heres the low down..

I have a 98 dodge ram RWD 5.9L COMPLETELY STOCK

and my engine light came on

the problem i am having is a cylinder 5 misfire. sometimes it idles fine, but most of the time, and by most i means on almost every occasion, i catch it misfiring while idling. when i drive it, it seams to be a bit slugish and find it downshifting 2 gears low to find that power. it drives fine but feel like it is gettting that healthy beefy reponse take off like it used too. i took it to o'reillys and used their code reader.

since then this is what i have done to try to solve the problem

- changed oil and oil filter less than 300 miles ago

- refilled antifreeze

- changed out throttle pressure sensor

- check/refastened intake seal on the air filter

- bought seafoam (havent used it yet until i top off my tank again)

:banghead:

...still trying to do some more research before i try a compression test.

any help or ideas would be great!

thank you!!!

UPDATE:

Just found out i have the Death Flash

:banghead: :banghead:

Check your spark plug in that cylinder. Look to see if it is oily. Swap it with another spark plug and see if the misfire moves to that cylinder. Check your plug wires too.
