Fellas. My dad has a 2012 2500 Laramie. He lives in rural area of Hawaii. He has been ******** about how bad his headlights are. He can build anything one would want out of wood but IS NOT a car guy, especially when it come to upgrades and electrical stuff in vehicles.

I don't know, yet, what headlights he has on his MC but he will send me a pic tomorrow. He asked about some kind of upgrade and I mentioned this forum and Retro Shop. All I knew was they should have an upgrade that is "plug and play" and was much better than factory. I also told him I thought they were in the $7-$900 range. He didn't flinch and asked me to get info. I'm going to contact RS but wanted first hand experience on a couple items.

1. Are they as good as advertised?

2. Are they plug and play? He would have his buddy at the local Ram dealer install them. Is it as easy as pulling the factories out, installing the RS harness and lights and buttoning back up? I looked at the RS installation page and it doesn't look too bad, even for me.

3. Do you think he will see an "$800" improvement in his night driving?

Thanks for the help.

They are as good as advertised. I'd be interested in what headlights your Dad has. If they are halogen projectors then an upgrade will be pretty simple and cheap.

If he has standard halogens, a HID upgrade will help but it won't work as well as the projector system. In that case he can have a set built with projectors, add the HID kit and be good to go.

"Plug and play" depends on what he has now. The harness and ballast install is not hard to do. RS has everything he needs to install the right HID kit that works with our trucks.

With a projector set of headlights and the addition of the HID kit he will see a significant improvement over the stock halogens.

Let us know what headlights he has.

With it being a 2012 he should have quads. So if $800-$900 didn't seem to bother him then either a set of 13+ OEM projectors w/adapter and hids would be a good upgrade. I'm sure jj could have it all set up so it would be as close to a plug and play swap as it could be. Or a built set of quads and hids should fall in that price range.
