Got a 1996 dodge Dakota with a 3.9 l v6 automatic. I have changed the distributor, distributor cap & rotor, plugs & wires, throttle position sensor, crank & cam Shaft sensors, O2 sensors, egr cylinoid, ignition coil, air filter .... It still does the same thing. It will start up and run fine, or it will run good for a few mins then spit and spudder, backfire through the exhaust Real Hard & Loud. Or it will just turn off ZERO power! So I coast to the shoulder . put it in park and it will either start right back up and run fine or do it several times throughout a 10 mile trip, 5 mile trip, or 2 hour trip. I thought it may have been the muffler clogged up so I cut it off. It started easier and less stalling for a week or so then back to the same thing. I know its getting fuel because if u pump the gas while trying to start it you can smell gas, it fluds out and you have to wait a few mins for it to start... Any ideas of what it could be?? I have brought it to 2 dealerships and it ran a-1 PERFECT and didn't stall while they where driving it , so nothing got accomplished!

I'm going to assume that you sent the fuel sync properly when replacing the distributor? I'd also be questioning the fuel injectors if they're leaking down
