I was at the dealership today getting the recalls taken care of and asked them to activate the DRLs. They agreed to do it without any charges since they were already going to be in the system. After they finished up they stated they are activated but my truck does not have the correct wiring installed for them to work. Has anyone else experienced this?

There isn’t any type of special wiring. All trucks have the same wiring except there are different harnesses depending on your style of headlight. Should be able to activate them with quad and projector headlight housings no problem. I had mine activated when I did my recalls for when I get my Morimoto XBs. They had no problem doing it also for free it since they were already flashing my computer. Unless your truck is an earlier model I don’t see how they could tell you your truck doesn’t have the wiring for it.

I have a 2015 Express. He stated that when he did it he received a fault code and that it was not possible on my truck. He said if I wanted running lights they could program my low beams to be on at all times

Hmm when I was ordering my headlights and wanting functioning DRLs they told me it was possible on quads and projectors. Maybe the low beams is what they meant by activating them for quad housings. Is there a specific reason why you want them on or do you just want them on?

No specific reason. It would be nice to have them on. Not a necessity.

I have a lot of morons on the road here so I prefer as much as preventative safety features as possible. I put in a order for the security bypass on my 18.

There are different codes between the projector and reflector (i.e. quads) housings. It is possible he didn't use the right code.

It is my understanding that with the quad housing, when DRL is enabled, the high beam bulb is turned on but at a very low voltage.

What kind if headlights do you have?

I run quads. It's a super easy fix for me. Not sure about the other fella with the same issue.

Just FWIW, have a MY 19 with the LED (in reflector housing/same fogs) etc... The DRL is built into the system, and I can access from the U Connect Screen. Unfortunately, DRL option is just 100% headlights which I can turn on/off. I leave off as not want my headlights on 100% of the time. When I was at dealer, asked them to change code and put my DRL as parking light (which is a rim light on MY 19 Bighorn). I was TOLD that tech said could not be done due to 19 programming, just saying as a comparison.....

If he gets his dealer to use the settings I posted above he will have the option to choose the DRL from high beam / low beam / park lights / fog lights. I have quad lights and have the park lights set as the DRL's

That’s what I was looking for was the park lights set as the DRL

As far as I know, the dealer does not actually have the flexibility to set specific options. They can only add sales codes that will in turn set options defined by FCA.

Dealer options for DRLs are Parking Lights if you have factory projectors or high beams at 50% if you have quads. That's the two sales codes @Jrod mentioned.

To get the other options you need to use a tool such as AlphaOBD or AutoEnginuity.

Quick question, do the DRLs dim the dash lights when they activate?
