What's that easiest? I've read about the fishing line trick as well as the Eraser Wheel. The only question I would have about the eraser wheel is will it damage the clear coat or with a little buffing/clay bar will it clear back up? I have a few badges I'd like to get rid of as well as some thin pin stripes.

Thanks for any and all help.

I just de-badged mine and used a trim tool to pop the emblems off. Then picked off as much of the backing that I could, then used an eraser wheel. No damage to the clear coat at all. When you're done use grease and wax remover and go over it. Then put a good coat of wax on. I didn't have any luck with the fishing line, but YMMV.

I prefer floss. Stronger than fishing line and works great. Once it's done I goof off the rubber and call it good.

I used 12lb test fishing line I had. Once emblems off used my thumbs to roll off the excess adhesive (which sucked) and then finally used 3M adhesive cleaner for the rest. Eraser wheels can be unforgiving sometimes I didnt want to risk it. Also used the 3M to take off the crappy pillar tape on the doors.ImageUploadedByTapatalk1429882109.066964.jpg

Plastic razor blades work as well, not sharp like a razor blade but shaped just like one.

fishing line, hair dryer and duct tape. Once the tape is warm comes right off with the sticky side of the duct tape.

Fishing line, eraser wheel, goo gone. You have to be a real bone head to burn something with and eraser wheel. Keep it moving and you're fine.

Also, with the fishing line it's more about sawing than it is about pulling on it. I debadged my entire truck in about 30 minutes, only used maybe 4 18" pieces of line.

Like I said, I used the eraser wheel and didn't have any problems at all and I was pushing kind of hard in some spots. Hell, I used it to take the Daytona decals off and it came out great. You couldn't tell they were there to begin with.

Would these same techniques apply to the molding on the sides as well?

Ive grown tired of the "RAM 1500" on my doors, so it's gotta go soon. It'll be: Heat Gun, Fishing Line, Eraser Wheel, and then Acetone to clean up any left over residue, for me. Only thing is the paint under the lettering is gonna be darker than the surrounding paint, since it has been covered up since new, so will probably still be able to see an outline. Oh well, I'll be repainting her at the shop within the next couple of years. Gotta keep her looking fine. :buffer: That'll just leave the RAM heads front and rear on mine. They compliment the truck imo, so I'm keeping them.

My truck had the chrome door handle covers and chrome spear looking things on it when I got it. I cant stand chrome, especially stick on plastic chrome, so I took it all off. The spears left a very thin film of the adhesive on the paint that I cant get to come off. I soaked it in goo gone and let it sit for like 3 days and it still didn't work. I ordered some of that 3m adhesive remover, Ill see if that works. If not ill try an eraser wheel next.

Oh my God...razor blades? Someone suggested razor blades?? Do not use razor blades.

Invest in the 3M stripe-off wheel. Professional results, every time. Don't mess around with back yard methods unless you don't value your paint.

I bought a 3M wheel a couple years ago and it's lasted me more than a few projects. Cuts right through the adhesive and **** and will NOT harm your paint no matter how hard and hot you apply it. Polish the area with your favorite wax and you're golden. There's no better way to do it. There are cheaper ways, but no better way.

Plastic razor blades do work, but an eraser wheel makes quick and easy work of it, with little to no chance of harming the finish. Dont pay the premium for those 3M eraser wheels either. The $10 cheepo's are made of the exact same material, and are just as effective.

PLASTIC razor blades :)

Well okay, not as bad as regular razor blades! Haha.

Still, the 3M wheel is a better choice I think, although I've never tried plastic razor blades.

Didn't know they made a knock-off 3M stripe off wheel. Worth a try I guess.

The trick with eraser wheel which is the only way I have seen it cause a problem when others have used it seems common sense but I have seen the damage make sure your paint is clean and after you remove the emblem make sure there is no dirt on the glue or paint and make sure the wheel is clean.
