dealer day for the truck

She's been needing some work........finally took her in.

Oil change (I paid $60 for 4 of 'em, I'll do that, not worth my time to do it myself!)
Ticking on startup (assumed the famed exhaust manifold issue on these trucks)
Some **** leaking from the condenser (noticed when we did the body lift)
Tie rod end recall
Emissions test (thank you St Louis county)

So, I asked the guy about the recall - do you do the alignment after? "No, they pay us to set the toe". WTF. Seriously? I look at the wall, $69.95 for a front end alignment. Hell no. I know it needs done, truck is a hair under 13K and I don't feel like eating through a $1,700 set of tires over chump change. I told the guy I'd give him $35 for the alignment. Done.

Emissions test - I was worried..........cutouts are a no no...........but evidently they didn't see it, didn't care, whatever. I passed.

Ticking noise - can't replicate. I figured..........it is worse in the winter. Oh well.

Condenser, well - that bad boy was f'd up. Leaking - guy said he was surprised that the AC worked. It works great now.

So - not a bad day with the dealer, wish they would have found the noise on the manifolds, but its no biggy.

Bad part? Right up front, they had a 2012 CCSB sport 4x4 in PS2 silver, leather, sunroof, NAV 3.92s, yeah - the EXACT truck I told my dealer to find me 2 months ago (different place). Oh well, I don't need a new one. I doubt they'd get my payment where I wanted anyway, and it would take me 2 weeks to swap over all the **** on this thing. :****sweak:

nah, there are some nice things on the 2013.....but I don't know if its going to be enough to make me want to move to one.

Here in STL there are PLENTY of dealers. I don't even go to the one that is literally 2 miles away. They wouldn't work with me on parts (when I went to order some OEM heads, tails, 3rds, etc) - this other place instantly set me up and gets me some nice pricing on the parts. Hell, my bill from them this morning was a buck fitty. LOL (yeah, puny parts).

I would hate a column shifter..personally. I really like the "idea" of the 8 speed, but I love resting my hand on my Mopar shifter.

Yeah, the dealers up here do it all the time. You buy a "service contract" with Chrysler for 4 oil changes for 60 bucks.

Hell, my new van - if we take it there for ALL of the oil changes, they keep buying us a contract a year. But, they are 30 miles away.........not worth my time.

I would hate a column shifter..personally. I really like the "idea" of the 8 speed, but I love resting my hand on my Mopar shifter.

I love my column shift. Floor shifters are for cars. Trucks are suppose to be stick or column shift to me. If i had a floor shifter id convert it. Prolly the only person out there that would do it but oh well.

I still cant believe dealers do it with gassers, you would think they are taking a loss at that price.


I find the column shifter the only downside to the ram, I prefer to have a console. on the flip side it is nice to have a female nice and close :********:

I had a ticking noise in my 2010 and it ended up being my heater, fortunately there was a recall on it

yeah, I had that one done last year when they replaced the gears. Still have something up front there that ticks on startup.

tuning will happen sometime, I'm not 100000% worried about that.

Mine isn't tuned right now, I drove it all weekend without it. I'll get it back soon (time), but its not a top priority. ****, neither is looking at new trucks. lol

When I was at the Santa Fe Ram dealer, I was looking a JK's. They had a pretty awesome Bright Green JK, $24k sticker. It was damned tempting.

I am annoyed that need to setup an appoint with my Abq dealer (100 miles away, not just 50) to get my rattling dash and ****** transmission looked at. The dealer in Santa Fe expressed no interest in helping me with my 8 month ol truck.
