I have a 2017 RAM Ecodiesel with 96,000 miles and I love it. Recently went through the tone wheel failure two months ago and it was very expensive. I reached out to RAM Cares and they didn't offer anything. So, in short, I've had the tone wheel failure (fixed), EGR cooler recall completed, and the HPFP recall completed. As near as I can tell, these were the major failure points on this generation of trucks. I run the GDE EPA compliant tune. I also test the oil every oil change and the results have been perfect.
I know there are no guarantees. I used to do a lot of highway miles but now I live in a place where city driving is more my normal. I do more regens than I prefer and getting them completed is more difficult. That part is a pain, but no complaints beyond that. I do wonder if I'm going to kill this truck with the shorter trips.
All things considered, what would you be worried about for the next 50 or 60k miles? Is the tone wheel likely to fail again? Something else major? Would love the community's thoughts. Thanks!
