Hey guys, brand new here and brand new to Dodge.....I mean Ram.

I bought my first Ram yesterday. A 2014 Lone Star Edition. It came with the 8.4A radio and the dealer next week is going to add nav to it. My question is when the dealer adds nav will I still get the XM traffic? Had that before in a Jeep and it was priceless.

Also for some reason in my uConnect apps I do not have Pandora or anything. Only the apps that incur a monthly fee to Dodge (wifi, remote unlock, etc). My salesman said they may be available as a (free) software upgrade that he'd get me when I do my nav upgrade. Does that sound right? Can't understand why they aren't there now. After all, it is the 8.4A.

And in regards to uConnect I do not have the remote start listed. Any idea how much that would be to add?

I may be able to answer some questions....

I don't believe you will get XM traffic. I added the nav to my 8.4A and I don't have the option anywhere that I can find. Kind of weird considering my motorcycle has it.

For the uconnect apps, they have to be downloaded via the cell towers that uconnect uses, I think they use sprint. When I called to activate my uconnect, the lady told me I had to sit parked with the engine running for up to 30 min for it to download. It will not download while you are in motion. I think you can go in there an manually tell it to download, and you may have to if they haven't started.

As far as the remote start goes, do you have remote start on your vehicle key fob? I don't know anything about the lone star edition, but if not then you may not be able to use the app for it.

Uconnect apps..u need software update to ur radio. We had same problm in our '14 durango. Took months before radio could do what was advertised. Apps (panfora etc.) will need your phones data to run thru the uconnect app on ur phone.

Thanks Triig for the reply. A little disappointed, but alas.

Well took my truck in today for the nav install. It only took about an hour. Or rather that was my wait time.

Just wanted to follow up, with the dealer installed nav the traffic feature is not there. A little disappointing but I guess that I can still use my smartphone for traffic.

Other than that, the nav seems to work just fine.

Thanks

I picked up my 2014 2500 Laramie a few days ago and I thought it came with Nav but when I was taking delivery the salesman said I had to buy the disc for $599?????

That sounds outrageous on a vehicle with a $55k+ sticker,

Question: Does the dealer just load Nav software or is there a disc that has to remain in the cd player?

That doesn't sound right to me. My SLT/bighorn came with the 8.4an. Isn't the Larimie a step above that?

No there is no disc that has to remain. The dealer would need to enable the Nav function.

The window sticker says Nav "available" which was pointed out after the deal. Your right I thought it had alnost every option. Has sunroof, woodgrain Premium Alpine sound system, air conditioned seats, keyless start etc.....

The salesman said the radio is a nav unit but to have the software loaded is an extra $599.

You know the leather drivers seat has a scratch right in the middle so I think if they are going to charge me $599 for Nav I am going to make them change the seat out ( I made the document the deep scratch upon delivery)
