I have a 2013 Dodge Ram 3500 with the UConnect Stereo.
I took it to the dealer last month and the mechanic loaded a software update. After that I noticed that the Compass was no longer working.
So I took it back to the dealer and the mechanic said he was going to have to tear out the entire ceiling to figure out why the compass wasn't working. This didn't make sense to me and fortunately another mechanic stopped him from doing this. Then he decided that it must have been a corrupted thumb drive and that the entire stereo unit needs to be replaced. If it was a software problem why can't they (or myself) just reload the software?
I've lost my faith in this mechanic for a couple other reasons, like he rotated my tires and didn't line up the valve stems on the rear tires so I couldn't add air or check the tire pressure on the inside tires. And it took him 4 hours to rotate the tires and change the oil.
Additionally, I have recently lost my Satellite service and all my presets on AM/FM/SXM. This is the second time this has happened and the last time they spontaneously reappeared.
So, can I do a software download myself, so I don't have my dash/stereo needlessly ripped out and does anybody know a really good Dodge Ram mechanic in the Cincinnati/Dayton Ohio area that does warranty work?
