I'm in the process of debadging my truck and I'm getting the decal and glue off no problem, waxing it up all nice like, but it leaves an outline of where the badge was. This only happened on the DODGE badge on the back and the RAM 1500 on the sides, not on the hemi badges on the front or the 4x4 or SLT on the back. Is this just fading from the sun and it will blend eventually or is there something I can do about it? It's not horrendous, you can't see it when I drive by, only if you stop and look for it.

Yes, buff it with a buffing compound and then wax that area.

Thanks, that was going to be the next step but my buddy's dog decided to use the pad as a chew toy so that got postponed.

Be careful what "compound" you're using to "buff" on it. I'd use a light polish and nothing more...

You should be able to do it by hand honestly as long as you're using a quality product.

Also, if the truck is older, the paint will probably be a different color under the badges.

i took my tailgate off and did it in my house where it was warm. used a hairdryer and got everything off. getting all the adhesive was a pain in the butt. the 4x4 left a nice lil outline. polish didnt cut into it enough so i used some 1000-2000 wet sand paper.did an area slightly larger then the spot. then i polished it and wax it. by hand. polished the whole tailgate since i was at it. still got to get the ram off the doors. too cold tho

I just Debadged my entire truck today. I tried to use my heat gun and "Goof Off" to get the adhesive off, HORRIBLE!!!!!!

I decided to go and get a 3M erasure wheel (29 bucks at pep boys) Ended up taking me 2 hours for all badges, removal, compound and wax.... I would have paid double that after seeing how quick it made to removal of the adhesive!!

Yeah I just used fishing line, goo gone, and the florida sun to heat that sucker up and it wasn't too bad. At first, it took me about an hour just to get the hemi badge off the front lol, but I figured out a good system and was able to do the rest in an hour or so.

Cpudoc, the grill badge snaps on. If you carefully pry it up, it will pop off. Just did mine tonight.....it was a snap!

You took the badge off your 3rd gen HEMIWHO? Well...if you decide to go that way, be careful not to snap the plastic piece behind it, then you won't be able to get it back in there.

The best route tho...like Scottland said, just tape, cover up for overspray, and dip it on the truck. Simple.
