Did you guys read the pickup reliability rankings out? RAM came in last....

I just saw it’s from Consumer Reports. Don’t care what they say, never did, never will.
I agree they rated some years ago back how terrible Sears Kenmore appliances were....I still have two kenmore friges running and a dishwasher that has never failed with the last new 2 new high tech refirgerators junked!! We had to use the old kenmores in the garage while we got new high tech ones that was junk! My 2026 Ram 1500 Tungsden runs very well....Did have the recall done on trailer module but never had any issues with it. If the Hurricane is that bad why haven't we read the same from Waggonner owners?

Seems to me there's a contradiction between Consumers' Reports and the recent JD Power reliability survey.

2019 Ram 1500 Billet Silver Laramie Quad Cab 2WD, 5.7 Hemi, 8HP75, 3.21 axle, 33-gallon fuel tank, 18” wheels. Build Date: 3 June 2018. Now at 154128 miles.

You'll need to be more specific as there ar multiple flavors of JD Power surveys, including the 2 year ownership one, which obviously won't include 2026. Initial satisfaction survey may be more relevant there, but it's not exactly reliability. Infotainment issues count the same as a blown motor for that one.

CR is sometimes not always reliable an indicator. However, this feedback is for 2026 trucks only which would indicate that there are problems, and not just with Rams.

I've found that buying the extended warranty prevents issues for as long as the warranty is valid. Odd phenomenon.

Reliability ratings by Whom? Ford set a record for recalls this last year with GM not far behind! Both companies are having issues with their 10 speed transmission and GM still hasn't addressed the the issues with their engines blowing up! I subscribe to CR but I don't take everything they say as gospel. In fact there's been a few times where I'd disagree on certain products I was familiar with in the past.

On the 2026 Ram 1500 they are really bad mostly on electronics which by the way it the heart and brains of new vehicles no matter how good the engine and transmission are the truck won't run unless the computer says so! Think about this why do you think Ram put a 10 year 100 k warranty on their 2026 Ram 1500 , it's because they knew they were junk when the built them.
Yep.

It’s also because they already know that after 10 years they will no longer service them due to out-dated electronics.

(Our son’s new Silverado is still in warranty-isolation after 5 months due to it’s sorry transmission and lack of parts.)

I broke my own rule of “never buy extended warranty”…. When I bought my current ‘24 Ram 2500 Limited w/6.7 CTD…. because of all the electronics and the emissions equipt on diesels these days. The truck came with a 3-yr 36 mo warranty…which I bought the Mopar bumper-to-bumper 5-yr/100K Extended Warranty….($3500)… but only because it has a clause: If I don’t make a warranty-claim…the purchase-price is refunded.

That seems like a “bet” that I can revoke if it appears I’ll lose.

As of 16 June 2026, the 2026 JD Power Initial Quality Survey (IQS) has not officially been released.

That leaves the JD Power Vehicle Dependability Study (VDS) as the only one current, which is based on three years of ownership, not two. This three year study proclaims the Ram 1500 as the most dependable full size pick up for 2023.

"3 year study"

"The study, now in its 37th year, covers 184 specific problem areas across nine major vehicle categories: climate; driving assistance; driving experience; exterior; features/controls/displays; infotainment; interior; powertrain; and seats. The 2026 study is based on responses from 33,268 original owners of 2023 model-year vehicles after three years of ownership. The study was fielded from December 2024 through November 2025."

But the question is how accurate is CR's predictive judgement? What is the data it's based on? The data release was March of this year and can have obtained roughly six months of members responses, yet it proposes whatever their data told them the Ram's reliability will remain static.

Given that CR's data collection system seems to be ignorant of major problems with other makes, such as GM and Tundra's engine problems, reliance on their opinion is not justified.

Considering what they hire is a contributing factor why these trucks are built with problems, at some don’t know what they’re assembling yet alone on the automated side can cause problems, and quality control not trained enough to name a few

When the truck has been working for two or 5 years without major issues, you can call it reliable. New 2026 trucks with these issues are simply defective. Smart money will be on buying used vehicles, because the manufacturers are making new ones broken right from the start. And if the vehicles do work, the unscrupulous will implement a software defect remotely in order to generate income. Of courese it will be called a software update. I may already have purchased my last new truck.

In this area, dealers removed new regular cabs from their lots and replaced them with higher priced quad cabs. Now they removed quad cabs from their lots and replaced them with higher priced crew cabs. The only way to get new regular cabs and quad cabs in this area is to special order. A short bed crew cab is senseless in the back woods where you're hauling gutted out deer, carrots for bait piles, firewood, building materials, lawn maintenance equipment, ATV's, and a slew of other things. This is what a truck is used for here. Few here ever use a gas guzzling truck as as a family vehicle or to go shopping. Not a regular cab. Not an extended cab. Not a quad cab. Not a crew cab. They use their wife's car. But I'm now seeing new crew cabs popping up all over the place. Takes a genius to have a short bed crew cab when you're never going to use it as a passenger vehicle. You want to throw something in the back seat of a truck? Stay with a quad cab which has a real truck bed. The most absurd thing I've seen to date is when the local building contractor replaced his quad cab with a crew cab with a bed mounted tool box and a ladder rack when he's never going to carry passengers in the back seat.

I don't mean to put down crew cabs in general. There is a place for them. But it ain't here.

Anyone buying a newly minted 1st year truck is actually a Beta tester for mfgr and paying dearly for the privilege.

CR is like buying something off Amazon and reading the reviews, especially when you really like a product. You'll always find a certain percentage who give it a 1 star review and others who will give it 5 stars.

I'm not sure why some trucks have a ton of serious problems, and others of the same brand/make/model/year do not. it's the consumer mystery gamble.

Anyone who looked at 2025 data has a real good idea of how QC moved vs 2024 and prior. Atlantis and wiring harness issues caused a nose dive. Were those issues resolved? That's how you predict 2026 reliability, along with the 2026s on the road.

Anyone who wants to roll the dice to snub CR or whatever, it's your money. I would continue to take a wait and see attitude or buy a low miles pre-COVID truck myself.
