Monday night, totaled my 15 Ram. Teen blew through a stop sign and I T-boned her. No one was injured. Shaken and probably bruised, I have a few bruises and pains. She was freaking and freaked more when I in full Santa got out.
My dilemma is; Do I go find another 4th Gen, get a 5th Gen or look at a Wagoneer?
Can I find a 4th gen as nice as my 15? With Air suspension. Yes, I like it and mine was working the best it ever had after adding antifreeze/conditioner.
A 5th gen would look for 19-22.
I would look for a 22 Wagoneer. Has a hemi on same frame as 1500. I don't have to add a tonneau cover. If I need a truck, I have a 95 k2500 plowtruck.
I loved my 15, now weighing options.

I 2nd seems fishy, glad everyone are ok.
1 ? have you been thinking of buying a Wagoneer? If so now would be the time to look for one.

Had no plans on a Wagoneer, just popped on my radar. I went and sat in one this morning, very comfortable and same seatin position as the Ram. I prefer the hemi over the Hurricane. Love the balance of a straight 6, but don't want to deal with turbos on a used vehicle.

Sorry for your crash, glad the vehicle safety systems did their job.

Yeah, the hassle of replacement is part of life sucks sometimes. I'd suggest you think about what best fits your usage needs in the near future before assuming you want a replacement truck first.

If yes, I'd go with a near-current 5th generation simply from the fact you don't want unknown maintenance issues. Most people aren't like us and don't take good care of their vehicles. I got mine 1 year old after a 2 year web crawler search (cause I wasn't in any hurry to replace my truck) that was from a horse lady that didn't like the size of a 3/4 ton. She had maintenance records from the dealer, so I jumped on it - it's been flawless except for some dumb software upgrades.

I'd search there 1st, you might get lucky - nationwide search. Also drop a note to Mark Dodge to see if they can help you. They're a site sponsor and excellent vendor.

IMHO only, if U get a 5th Gen, try and find a Pre Covid 5th Gen with Straight VVT Hemi NO E Junkola. IF U wanted a truck.

I have a 5th Gen pre covid, Built April 2018, bought Aug 2018.

ADDED: Most Important part of this post: GLAD all PPL are OK !!!!!!!!!

Happy you're okay, and the numpty that blew the stop sign, too.
Your rig did its job and kept you safe!

I'm partial to the 1500's, and the 4th Gens. You may be able to still find a new one (2023/2024) tucked away.
Here in Canuck-Land there are still new 4th Gens to be found

Do a nationwide search on AutoTrader ;)

If going for 5th Gen, look for a new one with NO hybrid garbage is my recommendation.

My truck (with tonneau cover) is in the shop and I'm driving an SUV and am being reminded that it's kind of a PITA listening to all my things rattle around as I'm driving. I'm not sure if/what you carry or if it's an issue but I notice a pretty big difference. It's also a pain having wet coveralls, etc. inside with me as they greatly elevate the moisture level inside the vehicle. Again, not sure if this would be an issue but is worth factoring in.

Just my 2 cents - I had some minor body work done on my 2014 1500 and the rental vehicle turned out to be a 2024 Wagoneer. I have to tell you, with heated seats and wheel, adaptive cruise, CarPlay, wireless charging and a whole lot of other niceties, I became very spoiled for a week. Plus, like the OP says, they drive very similar to the Ram only MUCH smoother and quieter. I also liked the Hurricane 6 again for the smoothness and power. I was tempted and did a little investigating. A 2024 Wagoneer with 40k or so can be had for the mid $40,000’s. I decided I wasn’t ready for a car payment but I think you could do a lot worse than a Wagoneer, especially coming out of a larger vehicle like the Ram.

Dilemma is settled. Picked up a 2020 Ram Limited today. My 15 Laramie will be missed but this Limited will make it much easier. It had everything I was looking for. Air suspension, 33 gal fuel tank, limited slip, 20" wheels. Also came with RamBox, ⁹offroad package, 3.92 locker rear, panoramic sunroof, 12" screen(big learning curve)
