Got the 98.5 5.9L, 24V in a 3500, 5 spd.
Would like a little more power for towing. Saw a youtube on the Quadzilla tuner. Do they really work.?
Not looking for drag racing, just maybe a 20% gain in HP and Torque. If they do work, which is the best for a totally stock truck, easy to install, reasonably priced? All suggestions appreciated.

MADDS Smarty SO-3, sometimes you can find them used for a good price: https://www.smartydieseltuner.com/product/1998.5-Smarty-S-03

I don't have first-hand knowledge but I recall from reading years ago your problem is not getting more power from the engine, it is getting the clutch to transfer the power without self-destructing. Also, the VP44 injection pump sits on the threshold of fuel starvation from the lift pump, you may want to upgrade the lift pump too.

There is a lot of history with this engine, I wish I had one.

i was THINKING of this one...level 3:

I'm always dubious about products like this. I mean a 60hp increase for $99 is too good to be true in my mind. Has anyone actually tried one of these and verified whether the claims are true? Companies that make aftermarket CAI's also claim hp increases, which we all know are pretty much untrue. It seems to me they only way to get that kind of performance increase is with a tuner and/or go fast parts, both internal and external. But in the case of diesel engines I'm less informed.

These work that well in a gasoline 5.7l Hemi? They are claiming 20-40-60hp increase on (respectively) stage#1-2-3 chips. Or am I reading it incorrectly?
yea....i think that was a stretch on their part. I read reviews, but, these days, reviews are worthless. Only time i might listen to a review is in a forum, where debates are abundant. lol

If you search the web you will find plenty of bad reviews along with this "F" BBB rating...

Rarely do these "chips" do anything. Custom ECM tuning is the only way to go vs these fooler chips/

The edge pulsar was dynoed, it claims about 30 hp and lb/ft of torque, it was dynoed by a guy on YT and they got more than that IIRC.

It just piggy backs onto the ECU. I have one, but still making up my mind about it. Not a fan of how it changes the pedal sensitivity.
