My 2012 still has Dodge branding on the inside dash and console, but the window sticker and title says RAM 1500.
That was supposedly the year of the spin off, but I guess they had left over interior parts to expend.

I get angry when a vendor can't be bothered to acknowledge that Ram is now a separate brand in a pull down menu, but that's really because it reflects a lack of attention to detail on their part that makes me want to shop elsewhere.

I couldn't care less if some gum popping, ign'rt or peroxide Kardashian wanna be in the front office didn't know the difference between a Dodge and a Ram.

Always a DODGE... if you wanna call it a RAM fine but will ALWAYS be a Dodge to me. Sadly I have to call a 4 door a Charger when it really should've been a Coronet. Ugh

My wife's Dodge Durango was also built by Fiat Chrysler LLC. Oddly enough, it still has Dodge on all the paperwork.

Us older guys are more resistant to unnecessary change.

I like PCs, and hate using cellphones for computing. I use a PC for CAD/CAM and generating g-code files for CNC equipment. I absolutely despise the newish crap that I have to use now.

Little cartoonish icons, symbols and **** colors on everything. I want my lists, menus, text and numbers back. I like to see the word "print", not some idiotic little rectangle thats supposed to represent a printer.

At the rate were going, we won't have to worry about Dodge vs Ram, because in a few decades there won't be anyone left who knows how to design one.

In the 50s, about half of college students were studying engineering, math and science. Now, 95% are learning about ethnic diversity studies, hip hop and sucking farts out of seat cushions.

Any time I'm forced to interact with mellenials, who love the change for the sake of change, I feel like Joe "not sure" Bauer's, at the hospital trying to explain his symptoms to the clerk.

Where do I join your club? LOL!

I think the defining difference between "the kids" and older guys is that we never had anything just handed to us.
Had to work for everything so I knew the value of things. Had to work hard and out work the other guy so I didn't get hit with the layoff.
Had to work the extra hours so quotas didn't fall behind while other guys went home. Dug into the documentation and carried copies of important docs to have them on hand when needed. Read up on newer tech and techniques coming out without anyone asking. Got offered better paying jobs because of the knowledge and skill level I had; made a good living, and work for every last dime of it.

Wow, that question sure took a ride.
When I started looking to purchase a truck I made a list of potential trucks. I knew what I wanted and did not want to waste time. One dealership had a 2014 Longhorn edition that was priced quite high. When I asked about the high price, the salesperson told me that it was the only 2014 Dodge 1500 for 500 miles around, and that was as far as they could search. I laughed at them and asked what they were looking at. This was a large dealership and the sales manager tried to show me that there were no other trucks like it. I informed him that the truck was actually a Ram 1500 and I had a list of 5 trucks within 150 miles. He was amazed at the number of Rams that were for sale in the local area when he used the correct name.
It is amazing what you can find if you use the correct name. Just like the bank that could not offer a loan value for the 2014 Dodge 1500 because they could not find it on the list.
I don't really care what you may call it out of habit, just make sure the documentation is correct.
But I still love calling a Nisson a Datsun.

Well, I don't blame the vendor. Because they would have to redesign their sites, catalogs, and a lot of other things. Not only would they have to make the change, they would have to keep the pre-2012 with Dodge. It is a mess that they had no choice in. FCA made it a mess by moving it out, I don't really care Dodge or Ram, but whenever I see a site still with brand selection prior to year selection, I think FCA made an issue they shouldn't have had to deal with.

I am a computer programmer, so I think wasted resources with no return on investment for the vendors (They have to pay to redesign their site/database, when we the customer can simply select Dodge).

I don’t really care if people call Ram Trucks Dodge or not, but I do think Chrysler was smart to give some order to the brand. Sales had a big spike after they re-organized. Ram has been doing much better since. Dodge is the “muscle” brand. It helped with marketing. Gotta do what you gotta do to sell. I do love how they have the “Dodge Brother’s” commercials for the cars. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with people still calling it a Dodge. They are just technically wrong, as Ram Trucks is its own brand under Fiat/Chrysler Corp.

The Fiat/Chrysler merger doesn’t really bother me. There are some good and historic brands under the umbrella. Like it or not we live in a “global economy”. And Chrysler has made some huge improvements over the years since the merger. Sergio gets a lot of **** from the Mopar guys, and some is deserved, but he did have a good strategy to get rid of Chrysler’s debt and he has accomplished that. He is also for the US spec cars being built in the US. On that note - What I care about more than name calling, is all Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge/Ram vehicles being built here in the US. Luckily a LOT of them already are, Ram HD coming back to Detroit. I wish the LX cars were built in Detroit but can’t have everything. Jeep are actually the top rated “American made” vehicle being built. Designed in Detroit, built in Ohio and have a very high US parts content.

I don't care at all unless as mentioned before I'm looking for parts and ram isn't available under brand selection and I have to scroll back to dodge. So guys selling parts it's a ram! Everybody else call it whatever you want. I don't search dodge for a chrysler part so why should I search dodge for a ram part.

It does drive me nuts. The name change was a byproduct of a much larger deal. Chrysler was going ****-up. Fiat effectively bailed them out.

I know its no solace for Ram owners, but I'm also a Chevy owner. Try ordering parts for a '99 Chevy truck. They made both C/K 1500s and Silverados that year. Completely different engines/drivetrains. I have a 2500 Silverado but many parts places don't show it until MY '00.

This actually happened to me last summer: My '67 K10 SB has a motor from a '68 Camaro SS. I needed new plugs and wanted to change them that day, so I went to the nearest parts store; Autozone. When asked what I was after, I asked the counter guy what plugs he had for a '68 Camaro SS. He said "That's a Ford, right?" I stood there, stared, and waited for him to crack a smile as if he were joking. It didn't happen. I turned and walked out the door. As I was walking out, he said "I'm into foreign cars!" Unbelievable!

I actually do the opposite. I stop at Dodge and get frustrated when I can’t find parts, lol. Then I scroll down to ram and all is right with the world.

Fiat owns Chrysler, and as such they can name them however they like. I am however, skeptical, that the name change is what saved the company.

Likely, making a nicer looking truck, with more horsepower at a lower price than the competition had something to do with it too.

I'd say daimler Mercedes designing what was the best interior at the time when they launched the 4th Gen and the lower price and better ride as the only truck on coils made the ram as popular as it is now. Just my opinion, but why I bought one. I know fca owned chrysler at the time, but daimler designed it.
