Ive been looking into lifting my truck but ive heard horror stories about people lifting their truck then the trans goes out on them. so im kind of skeptical on the whole idea. i have the 3.92 gears and if i do a 6 inch with 35's should it be fine? i dont want to have the trans go out at like 60k miles lol

Any modification, from stock design will put strain on a vehicle. However...the stock tires are just under 34"...and a 35" tire is just under 34" as well...you'll be fine.

The lift itself doesn't put more stress on it , the added weight, increased angles etc is what puts more stress. Like assassin said, anything other than stock is not intended, if you put 24"s its more, if your put five samonians in the back it's added stress if you fill it with 600lbs of beer it hurts it but you can have lots of fun with all of the above mentioned.

What they both said.
But 3.92's will pull those 35's without question :********:

I have 3.92's with 35's. Not too bad, had it like this for a year and a half. Ready for some 4.56s though!

3.92's are fine for 35's. A 35 isn't much larger than the stock size. However, if you plan to tow, or haul heavy loads...do the gear swap. If you don't plan to do any of that, just having a programmer will suit you fine.

and the weight difference between a 35x12.5 is alot heavier than a stock tire on our trucks. the height isnt the only thing that causes strain!

What he said ^^^^

However, you can get AT tires which are lighter somewhat over MT tires and you can get 35" tall tires but not 12.5" width an that will also decrease the weight.

Stock 275/60/20 tires is approx 40lbs
True 35" tires are approx 75-80lbs

35" tires in height but less in width, and AT vs MT will fall anywhere in between those 2 numbers.

But 3.92 is more than capable to lug true 35" tires

fast should be in here soon to answer that

These guys ^^^ my agents. Haha

Pricing will vary from shop to shop and their experience in doing this.
Whether or not they machine in house or not
Do they have access to front diff assembly?
Can they fab a diff bracket, front drive shaft and yoke?

All these things will play a factor in cost.
I had an experienced guy do mine and the price I paid was fair for the job done

how can i find out what kind of gears i have:-/?? it is a 2wd lone star cc (HEMI).
what is the difference between the gears and how does it affect the daily driving?
i am thinking about a lift and 35" tires, too. but if i have to spend 1700$ for new gears i might think about it:)

I have the 3.55 gear too and just about to buy some 35" tires. what's your MPG like? 12-13?

11-13 sounds about right.
3.55 you'll be ok with 35's
