About 2 years ago my drive shaft broke in half while driving down the road. I have a 2015 ram express reg. cab short bed w/ 5.7 hemi. a year or so later after hearing w rumble while decelerating down to 50 mph for about a week the 8 speed auto transmission blew up the output shaft bearing and I had to replace the tranny and atf cooler. parts went through the whole system. now, a year later the something is making like road noise but its not. it whines and as speed increases the wine pitch rises. I have a feeling it's the drive shaft, A press fit 2 piece, is the cause of all this. Its a regular cab short bed. There is no reason the have a press fit 2 piece drive shaft. the designers should have a one piece shaft. there is no carrier bearing. are there others out there with similar problems? i have a feeling the shaft does not stay straight and that may cause the output to wobble and break the bearing.

I have had many RCSB and all had one piece DS but all were 4x4's also. I never seen a 2 piece without a carrier bearing either.

This is a known problem with the RCSB trucks, although it usually happens at (high) speed.

Aftermarket driveshaft is the only way to be sure it won't happen again.
