Weird problem...the driver's door doesn't close fully probably about 20% of the time. At first I thought maybe it was just hitting me in the butt, but then it also does it when I get out and close it. It's like the locking mechanism is too tight or something. It catches, but it's not all the way closed. You really have to conscious of closing the door firmly. Any thoughts?

I'd say start by lubing up the lock catch mechanism and see where that takes you. I had that problem with an F-150 I used to own.

You think that it takes to much force more than just overcoming air pressure? How about opening a window and closing the door. That would either prove or disprove that.

It's a brand new truck, my first stop would be the dealer to have it checked. On both my ram and my 2020 Jeep Cherokee, it takes some force to shut the doors when all the others are already closed and all the windows are shut because the seals are all so good yet. I'd bet that's what your experiencing.

Maybe that's it. Just need to get used to it.

Possibly or you could have an issue. One of my big pet peeves is people who get in my vehicles and think they have to slam the door off its hinges to close it. Most are automotivally illiterate and don't understand how many parts and plastic pieces are in doors so they just slam away, then complain when stuff doesn't work right.

My point is when all doors and windows are shut, I can't close my door gently as I'd like. It requires more than just door weight to shut properly.

If not it'll engage the first safety latch but but fully close.

I'm going to give it a good squirt of WD40 today and see if it helps. I don't want to have to take it back to the dealership because we just had a hurricane in Pensacola and a bunch of construction barges took out the main bridge from where I live into Pensacola. What would normally be about a 20 minute drive is now about an hour (way longer with traffic). Hopefully it's either just a stiff mechanism or simply a really good seal on the doors creating air pressure when closing.

Good deal man, just watch you don't soak any electrical components in there. They are everywhere on these new vehicles (sensors and such)

Upon further review, I think the issue is that since the car is new, the rubber gasket around the door hasn't yet molded or conformed to the frame. I noticed that if I didn't give the door a good shove it just bounces off the rubber. I assume with time it will form to the frame and the problem will resolve.
