Hi,

With the help of JJ I have a pair of retro fogs and dual heads for my 2012 Dodge Ram. Since I live in Canada I have these annoying daytime running lights (drl).

I am trying to figure out the best way to have just the halos turn on when the truck is running. So in theory the only way this would be possible is if I wired my halos as drls.

My alternative option would be to simply connect them to my park lights. But I don't want to go that route because my brake lights would be on if I wired them to my park lights.

I am no electrician so I have not got the slightest clue how to go about this. So anyone could shed some light into this it would be greatly appreciated.

thank

nope.......12v required for the LEDs, DRLs won't give you the full 12V. And..........the truck will give you a lamp out without the bulb there. :(

i havent looked into the wiring diagram for the new rams, but im sure the DRL have there own circuit which uses a photo cell which allows you to trigger you high beams at night/in the dark. thats how my chevy was anyways..... dont kont about dodges tho

The Ram is all computer controlled...........which I'm sure makes it fun!

gotcha! so there is no way going around this? :(

where theres a will theres a way.........not saying I know everything here, but I can't think of anything off the top of my head.

With a simple HID harness, and some resisters you can get the DRLs to turn off... The lancer guys do it all the time as their running lights are on 24/7 whether you have your lights off or on completely. :p Pretty dang simple. Watched my buddy do it in 15 minutes with soldering and a couple resistors from radio shack along with the Retrosolutions wiring harness my truck rejected.

ive heard of this but not having DLRs in canada will lead you to a $300 plus ticket real fast. plus points too boot...

but there's no point installing a switch if my drls will stay on along with the halos....i want just the halos on

You don't have to bypass the DRL to wire in a switch. That is how I have my halos wired is to a physical switch I drilled and put in my dash.

During the day when you have no lights on you can just run the halos. At night you should have your head lights on as it is... That is illegal to be running around with just your Halos on.

When the truck is off none of your lights will be on. So you hit the switch and just your halos will come on.

when i turn my truck on and shift it to D the drls automatically come on. so if i install a separate switch just for the halos they will stay on with the drls.

you know what i mean?
