Crazy.
You can buy the aftermarket belt for $40 or so and install in an hour or less.
$1,800 plus part to put on a belt? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. Maybe I need to unretire, and go in the "Put on Yer Serpentine/E Belt" shop.

Pretty sure he's talking about the cost quoted to him to replace both the motor/generator unit and the belt.

Maybe a lil facetious, lol..

I hope so, if they can even find a MGU for his vehicle.

It took me 2 years of fighting to get my E Fan replaced under MaxCare warranty, so I know the pain. "MY" dealership finally stood up to the plate after they changed Service and Parts Manager, and I pushed hard and talked to my SA. They finally went to bat for me and got the E Fan replaced, and even Covered my $100 deductible.

Heck, my backlite was bad, cracked in (2) places. Not only was it replaced under extended warranty, but the installer came to my residence and changed it out. SO Kudos to my dealership. They are not all bad.

Fair enough, however the motor generator is $900 retail and 45 min. or so in labor, so at $1800 it's a hose job.
Guess somebody gotta make some bucks, LOL.

Of course a shop is going to charge more than what you could do it for. That's the way it is with all repairs. Even independent shops do this. They wouldn't stay in business if they didn't.

Strip that etorque stuff and throw it in the trash. The only thing it does is cost money. Reason I bought a Classic. Mild hybrid systems are a joke, you'd think Ram would have learned that from GM's failed foray into that market.

NC: Why I bought the standard VVT and not E junkola in 2019.

RAM is like dang near a lot of folks in this country. Change history, tear it down, and NOT learn from it.

Makes me very worried not for me, but for kids and grandkids.
