Hello all ,

I read that there is a difference in the crankshaft reluctor ring between the earlier 09-12 5.7 hemi in ram 1500 trucks vs the 2013-current. The number of teeth (58?) is the same but the thickness of the ring?! May be different. Reason I’m asking is becauseI would like to know if I have to replace my engine in future if I have to look for a earlier engine or not. The remanufactured long blocks are separated by the early and current builds when ordering.
Wondering if it is as simple as splicing in a different crank sensor harness or if it can’t be done at all without replacing the reluctor ring.

I had a friend who encountered this dilemma the hard way. Used a newer engine (2013) in an older truck (2010). Engine will misfire so you either need to have the correct reluctor ring for the year of the VIN or find the right tuner who can make the adjustment. Since he had the engine already in, he found a tuner.
