I have a 02 ram 2500 w/ 5.9 360, 103k miles, and just got it back from having the tranny rebuilt. Dealer said it was weak and torque convertor was bad, and it's still under the extended warranty so they went ahead and rebuilt it. I was bringing it home last night, it shifts just fine in 1-3. But when it shifts into overdrive, it acts like it shifts just a little early. It's not slipping or hesitating, it just shifts, and then revs up a couple hundred rpm for a split second, and then drops the rpms like it should. I called the dealer and explained it and the head mechanic says that it sounds like something is out of adjustment, and that he can fix it real quick. I don't know if its in the linkage or computer or what. Just wondering if anyone has any ideas or has had this problem and was able to fix it. Thanks

Around 45. Just depends on how easy I'm taking it. It's been shifting around 18-21 rpms, again just depends on how easy I'm taking it. If I could upload it on here, I took a video of the tach and you can see and hear it jump 100 rpm and then drop just a millisecond after it shifts

I'd agree, it doesn't sound like its shifting much from normal. If you're like me, it might just be an operator over thinking.

When I crawled under it I did notice the (I'm guessing) return spring for the cable was hooked around a bolt instead of being hooked in the piece it should that mounts on that bolt. I'll have to look to see if that piece is still on there. But according to all the diagrams and pics I can find of the linkage, having that spring hooked to that bolt pulls the spring atleast 1/4 to 7/16 of an inch farther. I don't know if the spring being like that even matters.

UPDATE: Dealer found that the downstream o2 sensor runs on the same circuit as the governor pressure sensor. They never said for sure if the sensor was bad, or there was a bad spot in the wiring on the sensor, or anything. So they replaced it and it did just fine for about a month. Then a few days ago, it started doing it again, and also at one point, it started off in 1st like it should. But it would get about half way through 2nd and drop back down into 1st. So I crawled under it and checked over every inch of the wiring for the o2 sensor I could. Of course, didn't find anything. So I unplugged the o2 sensor, took it down yhe road a few times, and it done just fine. I decided to plug it back in the next day and see if it did it again, but it did just fine, so i left it plugged in. Day after, did it again. So, even though im sure it isnt the best thing to do, I unplugged it and have left it that way. Its done just fine. All its done is thrown 2 o2 sensor codes. Other than that, so far so good.
