I was secretly hoping that links could be worked out so I could try one but I guess not….

dropping the eco diesel is messing up my planning for the next three to five years

I wanted a 2023 or 2024 Ram Classic Quad Cab with the EcoDiesel, with Sports bumpers, full floor console

In others words, exactly what i have now, only with a new engine & warranty

Why do people feel the need to make things up or parrot information they have no idea if it's even true.
There's quite a few EcoDiesel engines that have well surpassed the 150K and 200K mile mark. Several have surpassed the 300K to 400K mile mark and one out of Canada that's topped over 500K miles.

Not to mention that in a recent interview, the CEO of Ram stated clearly that Cummins was not going away.

yeap, too much money to be made from commercial fleet orders. The same CTD engine is used in all the HD trucks (4500/5500 included).
If I was to take a guess what did the EcoDiesel in on the Ram was production availability, just not enough available time slots on the production line. Ram knows there's going to be a huge demand for gas powered trucks as the electric version nears going into production with it's huge demand. Why do you think they keep making the Classic version, people still want it over the Gen5 and they make a fortune from each one.

My guess would be different...I would say that these motors will probably be allotted to some Euro application with a higher profit margin. The Euro folks have diesels in their cars already and they like them....Gasoline will cease to exist in Europe soon. Maybe you and I should bet a cheeseburger on this....

If i recall correctly, Stellantis will be installing the Ecodiesel in a model of Mercedes

Stellantis Fully owns VM Motori, they also own at least a few empty Plants in the USA, where they could manufacture Ecodiesels.

That would save a bit in Transportation costs

Your so called "point" was the engine the engine grenades by 150K miles and I posted to enlighten you and others that the engines go a lot farther than that.

My guess would be they are are going to focus placing the eco diesel in countries that are less emission restricted as opposed to the R&D costs need to satisfy the up coming stricter EPA requirements here in the states.

I have what's called the 10/80 rule while driving. That means if someone within 10 miles is driving like an *** h o l e , there's an 80% chance they are in a minivan. It kind of applies to new posters....If someone posts something and get their weeetle feewins hurt so easily, chances are it's a new poster. Only 8 from you so far....Not a record, but not unexpected either.

An eco diesel is really an oxymoron. Diesel are not economical in terms of total cost of ownership and the engines with their emissions controls are not as reliable as a gas engine.

I was looking at new and used pickups earlier in the year and the new one were selling for $5,000 over MSRP. But I found a 2021 Eco-diesel on a dealer's lot and it was listed at $5,000 under KBB. I phoned the dealer and talked to a sales person and he was honest that most people did not want the baby diesel.

My last truck had a GM diesel engine and it was great when towing a 13,000 lb load but it was also not reliable and I had 3 vacation trips aborted due to engine problems.

I see the need for an ecodiesel but personally dont drive or haul anything so for me that wouldnt be an option, if I WERE considering a diesel I would move to the Cummins turbo diesel in the 3/4 ton. I like and have always liked the hemi, dont know nor will live long enough to care about electric vehicles no need for me to own any other Ram but the 5.7.
