I have a 94 with the older ECM, its the older style connector. Is it possible to swap it out for a newer ECM? With the OBDII connector. Im not too familiar when it comes to ECU/ECM side of things.. Reason being ive been told its not commom to have tunes written for the older styles when as the newer ones you can get chips to plug into for them.

you cannot write a tune for a pre 96 ECU. you have to actually burn a chip with a ROM burner and an ancient laptop.

If you just get the entire wiring harness, ECU, modules, gauges for a 1997 you can swap it all in. it is 99.99% drop in.

you can write a tune to a 97 with an SCT.

not sure if there were any differences in the plugs for things like the IAC, MAP, CPS or TPS. but all of those parts usually swapped across from 94-97 they had some changes in 98, and then again in 2002.
