Guess what I got today?

IMAG0067.jpg

Depending on how I feel after work or sleep sometime this week, I might try to install it during the week but if not I wont get around to it until this weekend maybe late Saturday. I work mid-shift or 11pm to 8am and my sleep is always jacked up so doing it during the week, as much as I want to, is challenging so we'll see when I get to it. I still need to buy some rad fluid and a 180 t-stat before I start this so I can do it all at once. Guess it's about time I also make sure my superchips is up to date since I haven't hooked that guy up to a computer in months. This way I'm installing the most up to date version of the tune and stuff when I change the temp at which the fan comes on.

Looking at it, it looks really simple, just drop it in, install 2 bolts, and plug in a connecter. The hardest part will be removing the clutch which I've never done before but read up on how to when I had my old truck when I was preping to rip the motor apart but never got to.

I'll be sure to post pictures, maybe small instructions to make sure it's clear for anyone else, and all that fun stuff.

you can do it without a tuner. :D

I wish I took some pics - but........right......I wasn't expecting to do it the day I did. I swung by the warehouse on the way to pick up my uncle and we knocked it out at his work in 15 minutes.

The nut is the worse, just remember, righty loosy. My uncle grabbed an impact with some long chisel looking deal on it and it was off in 5 seconds. :D

I have one on my truck. Set it with my tuner to engage at 195. Also have a 180 stat. Works great!

no, but it will come on by itself with the tuner - at the factory settings that is.

Yea, I'm afraid I don't have access to anything like that so I'll have to stick to using good ol elbow grease...ugh....

Don't do that, use a BFH. Couple of good wacks should break it free.

The other thing you can do is have a helper put EXTRA tension on the serp belt to hold the pulley tight.

I personally used a :superhack: and just cut the nut in 2.

make sure the serp belt is on, place a long punch or chisel on top of one of the peaks in the nut, on the right side of the shaft. Give it a few good wacks with a small mallet and out should spin right off.

Sent while I was supposed to be working...

The idea behind using efans is you take off more rotating mass on your engine. It's not that you gain Horsepower you just free up the power your already making. Same concept as underdrive pulleys. At least that's the way I've always understood it.
