The idea behind using efans is you take off more rotating mass on your engine. It's not that you gain Horsepower you just free up the power your already making. Same concept as underdrive pulleys. At least that's the way I've always understood it.

Exactly. The term "drag" is lessened.... Drag off the crank, which then lets your engine turn over a little quicker. Having less drag on the crank is done on a lot of hot rods with electric water pumps, underdrive pulley kits, removing A/C, and like this for us--- an electric fan.
