I have a 2003 dodge ram 2500 5.7 v8 hemi 4x4 that has a knocking sound coming from the engine, you can hear it the best from underneath around the oil pan, it also overheats and I've already replaced the radiator because it was cracked, any suggestions?

Check your radiator for oil, and check your oil for water. any odd color smoke from the tailpipe? does the knocking get louder the more RPM you hit?

There is water/moisture under the oil cap, exhqust was white/ish in color at one point. New radiator on and no oil in it, I suspect the oil pump possibly but not completely sure. Any tests I could do myself to figure it out? I'm mechanically inclined so I'm not worried about it, just dont want to go all rhe way through taking it off without having more to go off of.

to test the oil simply check your gauge or hook a gauge up to the oil sending unit ( front of block screwed straight in) you will see the harness going to it. typically 40 is what you're looking for, for stable pressure.
Where are you located? colorado I could help you out lol....
any more sounds with the RPM higher?
any way to send a video? message me if you need
