Has anyone swapped out their engine before? I just need more power from my truck and want to do a 4.7 or 5.7 swap. How do you go about looking for an engine? Has anyone done an engine swap and have you had problems with it?

It would prob be a lot cheaper to just go buy a hemi truck then swap a motor into yours.

How much do you think it would run me to do a swap because my truck is only worth like 7k and I can't afford a new truck. Lol

IMO its better to sell your truck and buy a used one with a Hemi.

When I needed to fix the 5.7L in my truck I looked at all the options and the cheapest was putting in a used 2008 5.7L from a junkyard for $2500 that had 47K miles on it.

See, I like that idea way better than getting a new truck! Have you had any problems with it?

X2 I know yours is a 3rd gen so might be a bit easier and cheaper than my swap was. But either way you'll still spend more on this swap and getting it to work 100% right than you would just buying a hemi truck.

The only way I'd recomend doing this swap is if you are sure this is a truck you will be keeping for a long time. Otherwise it will not be worth the expense.

Its possible but it would involve a lot more than just swapping motors. PCM, instrument cluster, maybe transmission. You would also have issues with the A/C and radiator. I think you would almost have to find a wrecked 3rd gen and gut it out. A lot of work.

Swaps are expensive. Just listing the big pieces, you would need a complete engine top to bottom including the accessories, PCM and harness. Anything that's different between the two would need to be bought. To get the idea try pricing the radiator hoses and cowl. Shop labor is $65-$100 an hour so you need to do all the work yourself. Can you afford to have your truck down for an extended period of time? Much cheaper to buy the truck you want then to do the engine swap. Now if this is a hobby project, then I say go for it. If it is your daily driver sell it. Good luck..

So basically I should either keep the truck or sell it. What is weird is that on my title, the truck says it has a v8 but the truck has a 3.7 in it now.
