Im sure there are some very smart guys on this board that may know what it would take.

I have a 2003 3500 2wd with 5.9 and a 6 spd. What I would LIKE to do is get a 2019-2020 1500 (I like that bodystyle) and put a 2003 5.9 and 6 spd in it . Yes I know its a heavy engine, yes I know its not a direct swap. OR I wanna swap that body onto my 3500 chassis. anyone have any insite to this?

I would say that it’s possible but would require a lot of work and the electronics probably wouldn’t work if you swapped to the new truck unless you gutted it and fabricated new parts to fit the 03 dash into it. Maybe google Cummins swap. May give you more info

I think the body swap would be my chosen route. It really wouldn't be that hard to fabricate body mounts for the cab and bed to sit on.

Setting up the hydroboost for the brakes and power steering should be relatively easy.

Also, making a steering shaft work wouldn't be that hard to do either. I would strip the 2003 cab and install everything you need into the new cab.

Im kinda on that way of thinking. My 03 has just started a few rust bubbles here and there..... debated on finding a southern truck just for the body BUT I like the newer 1500 bodystyle soooooo that brought me to where Im at

My son put a 1989 5.9 into a early 90s Chevy S-10 2 wd pickup.
Anything is possible.
