I recently had me engine warning light come on. I had been noticing a vibration when accelerating especially in 2nd and third gear. Also decreased gas mileage. 2012 ram 5.7 auto with 75K miles. Had the code read at an auto parts store, PO305, which I was told cylinder 5 misfire.
Changed the plugs in that cylinder, no change in performance. Changed the coil and the vibration was gone and performance seemed back to normal. But, the engine warning light stayed on. Does that need to be reset and if so how do I do it.
Thanks

I'd go to an AutoZone and have them read, then clear, the code.

Normally a DTC should clear after 3 key cycles (On/Off) and some driving in between each of them.

If the code comes back then there is still something wrong.

I don't know the law in WA but in NC it is illegal for a parts store to clear a code. Now if you do it on you're own or have a scanner that you can do it yourself that's a different story, just don't expect a parts store to do it for you.

Try pulling the negative battery post off for a few minutes.Turn the headlights on and step on the brakes while the battery is disconnected to drain the system, then hook the battery back up,should get rid of the light, but as stated if it comes back on,you have more serious issues.
