At 168k miles, my EPS unit failed the Service Power Steering light came on, and upon inspection the belt was shredded. I replaced the internal belt inside the rack and took care of the inner and outer tie rods and axles all at once. It worked fine for two days until I took it in for an alignment. Once I got it back, the light returned and I lost steering again, the same issue as before.
Do I need to reflash the unit, or am I better off replacing it altogether? I later found out I was supposed to turn the wheel to each lock-to-lock side for 5 seconds to recalibrate it. That said, when I first started it up after the belt replacement, the light turned off so I didn't think it needed to be recalibrated. Any help would be appreciated.
