I’m sure it’s because the truck has lived it’s entire 8 years in the rust belt, but this job has been a serious test of patience. Just waiting to hear back from a buddy with a welder to tackle the 2 bolts that broke flush with the cylinder heads.

Out of curiosity, for those who had their manifolds machined, what did you pay? There are no engine shop near by so I had to take it to a commercial machine shop: the owner agreed to help me out but it’s a small job for what they’re used too.

Welder fell through and I can’t justify buying one for a single job...

Irwin extractor set is up. However, I do I wish I bit the bullet and got the set that included the reverse twist drill bits.

My $80 110V flux core eats those right up, provides just enough amperage to heat the bolt/head and fuse the nut/washer to back it out.

If you're going to go that route, get some beeswax and heat up in there. Hate for you to be the next guy who got frustrated breaking an extractor/ drilled into his water jacket and needed a new head. See that too often.

Did my passenger side a little over a week ago. Bought a $99 dollar harbor freight welder. No experience with welding. Learned on the job but got both snapped studs out. Bonus is I own a welder and have the capability to make very unsafe a non sturdy metal stuff now with the skill I acquired.

Can't beat Crappy Tire when they put their little welders on sale,at least not in Canada, lol

You bet. I’d like to know where guys are buying welders for $80-$100. I was at princess auto today and even they weren’t that cheap.

This little flux welder worked great though, I think we’ll keep him.
