I didn't know what section to put this under so i went with general haha

anyway im getting a body lift and currently have my duel exhaust 5" tips coming out were the cutouts are. Im also getting an iron cross rear bumper that has no cutouts.

Should i put the exhaust straight back under the bumper in a similar fashion as it would be with cutouts?

Should i have them exiting on both sides behind the rear wheels? I have fender flares and im going to get some mud flaps to protect it from mud?

Orrrrr should i mount them both sides infront a the rear wheel?

i just don't know which would look/function the best in off road muddy ass conditions

Personally I'm going to be putting mine in front of the rear wheels. But I have a 2WD that's soon to be lowered a bit and just be a street truck with no hardcore off roading. If you're planning on going off roading, just remember if you put them in front of the rear wheels, it can sometimes be a clearance issue on more advanced terrain.

If your lifted, personally I would go behind the passenger rear tire (dual tips out)
Just a quick visual of my thoughts

So what do you do about the holes in the rear bumper if you move the exhaust to a different spot? Will look goofy no?

Just a thought. Once you get you bumper on you can just throw some cheep turn downs on it (to keep it driveable) and then you could take a set of jack stands to something and move the tips around the truck to see how you like there position. To see if they are to big in a certain location. And that pic of both on 1 side looks like it could be 5in tips.

Ya the pic of my truck is 5" tips. I was never a fan of duals on each side tire sideways like that Chevy.

It depends how you are going to use the truck.
IME, the exhaust out the rear of the truck under the bumper looks best, no contest.
In actual use the down side is the exhaust fumes seem to always find the low pressure area created inside the bed of the truck. So if anyone or any pets etc. have to ride there it is not a fun place to be at best.
Also they can create an issue off road if your seeing extreme attack or departure angles. If you have one and fold it shut backing up, or crush the tip you have problems.

The out of the side in behind the rear wheels put the exhaust into the air stream and does not smog out the bed of the truck, they also do not affect you attack angle in respect to the rear tires/ bumper.

Honestly if I ever change out my rear bumper I would cut it where it goes over the axle and dump it like I did on a couple other truck I had. I like them both coming out one side also but I don't know how it would look with dual 5" tips. Can use a pair of jack stands to hold them up so you can step back and see what location works for you.

I was never a fan of the factory dual's when they appeared on the 09's .
They looked kinda "homemade" to me ,but then I grew up in the 60/70's era.
My 09 SLT just had a single outlet so I had a custom dual set up made that exited behind the rear wheels. It cost more but looked a lot better in my opinion.
That said, I won't be changing out my 14 though..... :favorites13:

I'm a little late to this, but what if you had a "hidden" exhaust? Just cut them short and have some turn down tips or just have the pipes turned down behind the bumper or under the bed somewhere. An old roommate of mine did that with his '05 Ram. Couldn't see the exhaust, but you definitely knew it was there.
