Doing the timing chain and cover replacement and the new cover has an extra bolt hole. Anyone seen this before? 5.9l extra hole is just below the water pump.

That I believe is a weep hole for the timing cover itself. Unfortunately im experiencing problems at that exact location. Im mike new to forum btw, i paid to have my timing cover gasket replaced last year top driver side (common location i hear?) so whilst in there @ 182,350 I decided to pull intake manifold, kegger mod, clean entire inside nand cut divider on throttle body mount. New pan gasket and bolts, valve cover gasket’s , distributor, hi flow oil pump , melling pickup tube) oil pan, timing chain and gears, basically everything including hoses and clamps etc fuel injector o rings bla bla…4 days ago i noticed coolant leaking, im thinking these idiots didn’t put a bolt back, lol 3 days later i finally realized that they didn’t smap a bolt flush with block n rtv the hole, but apparently the timing cover and or gasket and water pump and gasket and fan clutch are all bad again …im literally physically nauseous because I haven’t stopped working on it since I got it back 3 months later and we aren’t on speaking terms.
I actually did work there for almost a month ans let them kinda back burner mine so I didn’t get charged as much and had privilege of working on my vehicles there. So to answer ur question thats a weep hole I believe for the cover. If im wrong someone please correct me before i redo this entire job again myself unnecessarily

So as i can see the original gasket letting go was a blessing for me, I realize also this thread is extremely old but only relevant topic im going through and didn’t want to replicate the thread, the chain was stupid loose, intake was disgusting pan gasket failed also. I also stripped and primed and painted everything cast factory aluminum and clear coat and oven cured everything and did a crackle finish on valve covers too . It’s a 99 ive had er since 2002 with 18.200 miles on it. Needless to say it’s very sentimental to me, has been everywhere with me gotten me everywhere and made me alot more $$$ than it’s cost me, im in process of restoring it and all body work etc, has alot of engine, exhaust, chassis and suspension upgrades too and a JL sound system with custom under seat box w/2-10” JL W/03 600w monoblock JL amp and JL 6x9’s, tweeter’s and rear door speakers as well 5-1/4” I believe. Im going to fix it again but im livid, going after the negligent ba****ds for everything u had my truck 3 months and u still did everything wrong????? Cmon man
