Hey group hoping y'all can help me out with some advice, I just bought a 14 black express 1500. I washed it last night, just went out to use some spray detailed on it and noticed on the left side of the bed it looks like metal flake got mixed with the paint. It's all over the place, but especially heavy at the top of the bed. It has straight lines like it was masked off. I know it isn't right, just wondering if i took it back to the dealer would they do anything especially since it's been a week already?

I've got bubbles in the paint on my black 14. Haven't shown it to the dealer yet, but I fully expect they will get the fender painted. I'm just waiting to see if it happens anywhere else first. Didn't happen until truck was a few months old.

Take it back right away. I have runs on my driver side rocker panel and spoke with the dealer's service manager - they will be taking care of everything as soon as Chrysler is done taking their precious time approving it.

Stopped by the service department, service manager checked it out took some pictures said the body guy would have to take a look at it then they would submit a quote to Chrysler to see what they say. Fingers crossed

I had a few flaws in my paint and a scratch on the dash, i took it back roughly a week later and they ordered the dash and are repainting the truck in the areas to fix. They got me a rental car in the mean time. I would assume the same type of treatment to you. It is a new vehicle and you paid for it to be in new condition.

I spoke to my sales guy and he had sent it to the body shop for a dent & paint correction. After I received my truck back, I was using a quick detailer and noticed in one spot that there is bubbling in the clear coat.

Also, when I was detailing the truck I noticed a LOT of small "spots" in different places that look like a small round spots. It is hard to see, but when you are up close on them and the truck is really clean (like when detailing), you can see them at certain angles. They almost look like a pinch in the paint. Again, you can only see them when up close and the truck is really clean. I can't get a pick of them (camera won't focus that close). They feel really smooth and you'd never know they were there except when right up on them in the right light. I had never seen this before and it's a black truck. That's probably the only reason I even saw them.

Anyone had these spots?

Man, that sucks, all the paint stories. I have a small yellow dot on my hood, like yellow road line yellow. It's right under the clear coat. Not that noticeable but you can plainly see it. I consider it like a mole, or beauty mark, LOL. Otherwise paint seems good... good for a new truck in this day and age. All the manufacturers skimp on anything they can, paint being one. You want a good paint job on a new car today, you pay for it, eg Jag, Benz, etc. Unfortunately it should not be an issue on any new vehicle, period.

Update: took my truck into the dealer today, had their detailer take it to his shop. Got the call a couple of hours later that it was done. Went to pick it up and right away noticed that it looked like the truck had been parked in a dirt field, dirty as hell. Irritated I broke out my stand by micro fiber and detail spray to clean it up so I could in spect it. He got the big spot where it had looked like it was masked off but didn't touch anything else not even the whole panel.

Went and grabbed the service and asked him what about the rest of the truck( the whole truck has white specs all over it) he grabbed the manager and he came out and took a look. He tried down playing the problem saying it's a black truck and your going to notice imperfections more easily. I said I can understand light blemishes from washing but white specs are a flaw in the paint itself, told him I had already clay bared the truck but that did little to nothing then he was like what do you want us to do about it to which I replied "fix it" so he took more pictures and is going to send them to Chrysler. So frustrating, anyone else with the same type of issues get them taken care of properly?

Rams seem to have gone downhill in quality as the demand has increased exponentially in the last couple of years..actually its most chrysler vehicles.

Mines going in next Tuesday for a couple of paint bubbles on the driver's fender. They've been there a while, but I waited to make sure no more were appearing anywhere else.

I also have something going on in the front end. Like a little clunk I feel in the wheel. Steering rack or something.

They made the appt and said they'd check it out. I'll post the result next week.

IMHO---Most so called "dealership detailers" are no more than dealership employees that work in the wash rack and probably do new car prep work before a car or truck is delivered, yet people continue to trust a dealership to detail their $40-$50k new trucks. Trust me most of these so called detailers think steel wool and microfiber are the same thing. Almost everyday you can read where someone has taken their truck to a dealership to have it detailed and have the paint corrected. The results are usually less than acceptable, and sometimes terrible. Maybe a better alternative would be to go to a professional detailer, get an estimate, and present it to the dealership and ask them to pay for the detail, which will be done by professionals, not wash rack employees who have no real experience or training in detailing.

The detailer they use has a shop in town. I picked it up yesterday, the detailer was still there when I got there. I started inspecting the truck and noticed it looked better but still had a lot of specs in the paint. I asked him what he did, he said he just clay bared it and hand waxed it. I've been back to the dealership twice now, getting irritated. I think I will be contacting Chrysler myself.

wanted to update this for those how may be or will be going through what I have been with paint. I called chrysler and filled a complaint about the issues with my paint. I have given the dealership more than enough time to correct the issue. I filed my claim friday afternoon, this morning I got a call from the dealership asking if I could mark all the areas on the truck with painters tape where there is over spray, and bring it back in (for the third time) so they can make it right. Up to this point the dealership had dismissed my concerns with the paint saying its not bad or its a black truck im going to notice imperfections. Now my truck is flagged with Chrysler so they will be hawking the dealership to insure the problem is corrected. Frustrating to say the least but appears it will finally get fixed.

Alright so took my truck back to the dealership for the third time now, came back from the body shop looking exactly the same!!!!! imma bout to lose my ****. The Chrysler rep called me just now asking me how it turned out, I told him it looked exactly the same. The detailer will not use a buffer on it because he doesn't want to be held responsible for damaging it further. I dont know what else to do.....

For starters, what kind of freaking "detailer" is afraid to use a buffer because he might damage the paint!!!??? Any good detailer would know just by looking at it if he (or she) can correct the paint. There are so many **** bags out there.....drives me crazy!

At least the guy was smart enough to know he wasn't qualified and didn't just attack your paint.
