Factory sub question

My 2019 Ram 1500 Classic did NOT come with the Alpine sound system. I did however, find one of the factory Alpine subs that fit under the back seat. Will this work with the standard 8.4 head unit, or would I be wasting my money?

You'd probly have to get the dealer to program it as well as possibly finding the factory amp and installing it. Unless you go aftermarket amp and tap off the door speakers.

I found one for $150 Canadian. I have AlfaOBD. Would I be able to enable it in there?

Having the factory sub will make the install a lot easier as opposed to trying to find an aftermarket sub to fit that space. Does the factory sub have an integral amp?
My '16 has the Alpine system, while the sub doesn't "hit" it certainly fills out the sound. Personally, I would get an aftermarket amp, tap into rear speakers wires, run a hot lead and be done with it.

I don't think you can get to the radio on 18+ with alfaobd. I could be wrong, I'm certainly no expert on the topic.

When I got my 18 I was a bit disappointed that the bass was not as good as my 08 Grand with the Boston system. I'd go aftermarket if I wanted to add a sub to the truck.

There is a lot more missing then just the sub. You do not have the amps and associated wiring for it so you can't just install the sub and enable it, doesn't work like that.
